Good news for Telltale fans. Whether the game will actually appeal to fans of traditional adventure gamers is another question - ubisoft are likely to want to stick close to the formula they've had so far for the franchise.

I like the CSI games very much (with the exception of CSI: NY). Normally I prefer traditional adventure games, but the CSI games somehow manage to entertain me a lot...

Of course it all depends on the storys of the cases (I like it espacially when they all come together in the final case).

Am I the only one who thinks it is really odd Telltale are making another CSI? It's not even episodic, is it? I know this was to be expected since Dan Connors accidently let it slip during a Gamespot interview, but the CSI game isn't exactly heavily promoted around here.

Thats because Telltale isn't the publisher of the csi games, so everything they release has to be run by ubisoft who are responsible for marketing of the title...

I think that the CSI games bring in quite a bit of funds (that they can use for their own projects) without any risks involved, since ubisoft is financing the whole thing...

I'm sure, given the size of the franchise, that this deal has to be very lucrative for telltale, particularly if they're doing it on the consoles as well.

Even better, the game is likely to have a different customer base than TTG's "own" offerings, and hence unlikely to compete significantly with these. Seems like a no-brainer for them to do it, given the option.

Although they're not released episodically, the actual format (aside from it all being on a single retail disc) for their previous games have been five cases, making it very much like a Telltale season. I believe there's an interview where they say that from a development standpoint, the CSI games are handled very much like the other licenses on Telltale's end.

And beyond that, Telltale's CSI have also just been good 1st person detective graphic adventure games. This is coming from someone whose only familiarity with CSI is seeing a few minutes while channels surfing, and watching Youtube videos of David Caruso's one liners from CSI: Miami spliced together.

I own CSI: 3 Dimensions of Murder and CSI: Hard Evidence, but I have yet to play the latter of the two. Perhaps I should before October.

I must say, Telltale really has their hands full now. They have Wallace & Gromit's Grand Adventures, Tales of Monkey Island, Sam & Max Season Three, and now CSI: Deadly Intent in development. Curse you, Telltale! My game collection will never be complete. :p

I think, that Wallace & Gromit is nearly finished, so there will be free capacities for the other projects.

Same here. I only picked up the CSI games because of the Telltale connection, I've seen maybe four episodes of the show, but I really enjoyed them. It's a much more immersive and atmospheric experience than other TT games and it's a welcome change of pace for me.

Is anyone else having trouble viewing the product page? Was this officially announced or not? I'm confused

EDIT: OK, I found a google cache of the page but it doesn't seem to exist on the Ubisoft site anymore. I guess someone goofed up.

The "improved interrogation system" sounds interesting.

It seems to be Wii only?
And the DS version has another comany as developer. Maybe Telltale developes and that other company ports the game to the DS?

Hey all, it's officially announced over here on Yahoo! Games.

Sorry that we had to hide this thread for a couple of days. :(

    ..:/

    Meh.

I guess not every product a company makes is something you're going to want. I will get it anyway because it's a Telltale game but I really hope it at least releases on PC.

EDIT: It will. And after watching the trailer it looks actually interesting. Not exactly my cup of tea - like more S&M/Monkey Island like products, even W&G but this looks cool.

From the trailer it seems that the DNA comparison has been simplified from matching relatively complex patterns to matching a matrix of coloured dots. I'm wondering which other aspects of the game have been simplified and to what extent.

As a compromise between CSI:NY the games as they were before it could be worse, but it's still somewhat disappointing. I guess I'm just not the target audience :(

Yeah telltales CSI: games have always been the best of the series...

The PC license of CSI: is actually becoming a very old franchise, it has been handled by 3 developers ... There are currently 6 games in total, going all the way back to 2003. This upcoming game is number 7.

I have been thinking of making a list of all the games (and what they contain) and positing it here and on the csigamer forum for a long time now. because the earlier games made by the first developer (369 interactive) have fallen from the spotlight.

Would anyone be interested in that? a master list of all the games and the 30 cases they contain?
  • edited July 2009
I'd definitely be interested in that list, Dangerzone. If you could even just write a few lines on the gameplay of each of the games that would be immensely useful to me.

So does this mean we'll have to wait a while longer for Sam & Max: Season Three?

I doubt it, Telltale is known for keeping their plate pretty full. I'd still expect a Sam and Max announcement around the end of TMI.

    I doubt it, too.

The CSI games never stopped them from working on their episodic releases, and is handled by a different team than the S&M games.

I expect the release of the first episode in december or january.

Actually, they outsource the modeling of the characters and the locations... but all the animation, programing, and gameplay is done by telltale.

Or at least that's how they did the last two, and this game has that same look to it.

I believe he meant a different team of Telltale employees, not a different studio.

I think that might be true to a large degree, but I'm pretty sure Telltale puts its own environment artists and modelers on their CSI projects as well.

If its anything like the old CSI games from Telltale its gonna be fun, its really the only CSI games ive liked.
  • edited July 2009
cool.. good news indeed .. I loved "hard evidence".
  • edited July 2009
Well they clean up what they get back, yes... but the clunkiness of the characters comes from them being done by an outside studio

(although most of their locations look awesome)
  • edited July 2009
yeah it does...dangerzone...what from your experience as a CSI would say that the CSI games are accurate ?

I mean many procedures are sucrifised and stuff
  • edited July 2009
You can nitpick them to death, sure... but the games are meant to be more fun than anything else. And on that note, yeah they at least hold up to the show. (I.E. In the overly dramatic, frequent mistakes make by writer/actor, way)

But the stories are always interesting, and its always fun to play with the tools.

On another note, it does seem that the trail does show the bodies from all 5 cases (unless some of them are from the same case)

Bloody body on the heart bed
    Body in the hot tub
Body in the SFF steel cage
    Body on the garage floor
Body that looks like that Jill Wilde chick from HE

The intro also shows what appears to be a body under a blanket, dunno if its a different one.

hey that's great.I got some theories about the CODs and I wouldn't mind a pro opinnion on them:

1.I think this is the (opera) singer body.I bet that this is the "carotide laceration" Doc Al was talking about.Propably another singer if you ask me,cause for some reason people always mistake the part of the neck where the carotide is as where voice starts from. There are defence wounds on her hand and arm
2.She's a therapist."So much for a therapy or so",the cheesy line from Langston. She looks to have been dead before being put into the tub.No blunt force trama visible.Staged death from a client ?
3.Alright,there was a screenshot about this but I will look for it later. The murderer was near a source of light, like stadium lamps, the vic didn't see his killer.Or from the looks of his neck injury perhaps the murderer was behind him and the light stunned the vic so that he couldn't see him coming
4.Staged accident :D.Why is his arm like that ? Pulse taking ? Paramedic intervenation ?
Propably the killer looking if he was succesful
5.Yeah she's the girl in the blanket. Is that the lighting or is it her skin colour pink ? Possible CO murder ? She seems to be in her bathroom
