Playable 'Whitehill' Character Next Season?

Next season, I would like to play as a 'Whitehill' family member, specifically Torrhen Whitehill. Torrhen is the only one of the brothers that is fighting for Roose Bolton in his army, I think that it would be interesting to have him come back to house Whitehill and maybe even be the new lord (depending on your choices).

I would prefer for him to actually sympathize with the Forresters so that he can be likeable and different from his father or younger brother 'Gryff'. I would definitely like to see things from the Whitehill's Point of View, and what better character to show that from.

Let me know what you think of this idea down in the comments!

  • Playing as a Whitehill would be cool and all that but, I really don't want to sympathise with the Whitehills or like them for that matter. I want to kill them all.

If we did play as a Whitehill you better believe that I would get all the non canon deaths for them.

  • I only meant for Torrhen to be the likeable character, like how Tyrion is on the show. You don't really like the Lannisters, but you love Tyrion.

  • I'm with you. I really want to play as Torrhen next season. It would be very interesting to see the dynamics of the Whitehills on the inside. They might appear invincible to us, but I'm sure a lot of weakness lurks beneath. Ludd lost a shit ton of gold thanks to Mira, plus they took heavy casualties in the battle for ironrath and Roose is breathing down their necks for Ironwood of quality they can't produce and in quantities they can't produce.

It would also be nice to finally be able to actually negotiate with Ludd/Gryff without them bellowing at us constantly.

Failing that, I want Torrhen to be a worthy opponent - not just someone who slams us into the mud over and over because of superior resources, but someone cunning and dangerous who's an awesome fighter to boot... without being a complete arsehole.

  • I would much rather play as a Whitehill solider or a squire who is disatisfied with the Whitehill way of handling things, not a lord. I don't want to make decisions for the Forresters and the Whitehills both as I have developed a certain hatred towards the latters and I would do everything in my power to bring their house to its knees. And besides, Torrhen is a great antagonist material, could be really interesting. One way or another I want to see the remaining Whitehills, add their names to the list and everything.

  • A deserting Whitehill soldier sounds like a good idea. It would give us an oppurtunity to get the Whitehills perspective of things without being forced on their side.

Also I like to play a character who was first on the bad guys side only to switch to the Forrester's side because he disagree with their actions and maybe work toward redemption.

  • I get everyone's points but I don't want to play as a Whitehill. By all means humanise them but I want to play as the Forresters (and Gared/Beskha). The story at this point is the Forresters VS the Whitehills and playing as both would just muddle things. I do think that Torrhen is a must have for season 2 though.

  • I'd be open to playing as Torrhen or some other Whitehill in a dlc to get an idea of what they're like, just not the main story.

  • One of the main themes in ASOIAF/GOT is moral complexity--no family (except arguably the Boltons) is 100% evil--and the first series of the game dropped the ball with this a little when it came to the Whitehills. I really want Torrhen to be playable because it would balance that out enormously.

Besides one of the main complaints that everyone had with S1 was that they felt totally powerless due to the Forrester's position. Wouldn't it be fun to play as a noble who wielded some proper authority?

I think playable Torrhen would be a sort of "Heath Ledger as the Joker" thing where the fandom would rage about it at first, but after Episode 1 everyone would love the character as much as any Forrester.

  • I like this idea.

In the show (From the little I know) shows many viewpoints, from each side. I want a reason to hit that [SPARE] button when I see a Whitehill, instead of saying "Fuck you!" and then killing him.

  • I wouldn't like it if Torrhen was playable, since he would be lord and many people would purposely choose the shittiest choices for him, making House Whitehill fall. I would like, however, for a Whitehill P.O.V for someone who doesn't hold much power. You play as a squad commander for the Whitehills, and the battle is still going on despite the heavy casualties on both sides. This squad commander leads the four men remaining in his squad out of the battle, and they desert. You play as they try to survive the harsh conditions of Westeros, and you finally get to see that not all Whitehill soldiers are monsters, there are soldiers out there who are just scared for their lives and their families back at home. It builds a sympathetic view for the Whitehills, making them less generic, and can provide the season with nice entertainment if written correctly.

  • What if the season was completely focused on the viewpoint of House Whitehill, similar to how season 1 was completely focused on the Forrester household? I think it would make for an interesting dynamic to have Whitehill family and household POV characters as the focal point for the next bit of the story line that Telltale is creating and would be more in line with the books and show. It would also help in making them less generic and flat as characters, which was something they suffered from badly in the first season. Plus, personally, I don't want to go through another whole season as the Forresters, as I'm not really invested in them and they remind me too much of the Starks, who I don't particularly care for (at least not as much as the other families, who are far more interesting to me).

  • The show doesn't show that much of POV (the books more since one see what they think) and has a tendancy to either blackwash/whitewash characters.
Also there are characters who are completly dark:
In aSoIaF: Ramsay (definitely), Tywin (maybe one redeemable quality hidden somewhere), Joffrey and Euron.
In Got: Ramsay, Joffrey, Mélisandre, Selyse.
Anyway, I wouldn't be as invested with Whitehills that I am with Forresters.
But it could be interesting depending on how it's handled.
