Elaena and Rodrik Betrothal (yes their will be spoilers)

So I decided on my second playthrough I'd go back and redo some choices which were the opposite of my first playthrough.. One of those choices was not forging the letter to Elaena about the marriage.

I knew it would come back to haunt me by making the marriage harder to secure but I stuck with it. I'm just curious does any other series of answers allow you to secure the marriage other than giving her half of the Iron wood. Seems like that would be a bit extreme since at that point Ludd was already granted half by Ramsey..

Also if I don't secure when she visits does that exclude me from over powering Gryff later on, since I won't have the help of the Glen-more Archers?

  • The only way to secure the betrothal with Elaena is to, as you said, offer her half of the Forrester ironwood (which is actually the Whitehill's half. Not the Forrester's half. The idea being, once the Whitehills are defeated, the Ironwood they have stolen will be given to the Glenmores).

Or, to forge the letter and then tell Elaena she is free to choose. Nothing else works.

Also if I don't secure when she visits does that exclude me from over powering Gryff later on, since I won't have the help of the Glen-more Archers?

No, while the betrothal choice provides many alternate lines of dialogue, the general plot of it all stays the same. So yes, you still get the Glenmore Guard, as Elaena is still instructed to marry Gryff.

  • You mutilate Gryff Regardless. Just offer the Ironwood.

  • gotcha, going to have to replay that chapter and make the proper choice this time... somehow I thought offering the Ironwood would leave Elaena feeling like she was a common woman of the night. I said I love you :-D... oh well, an hour of remaking my choices won't be a huge deal.
