Is it better to stay in the...

...North Grove? I mean, won't the Night's Watch behead Gared for desertion? And also, I killed his uncle. Is it better to stay or leave? Is it better to have a better story, or for Gared to have a bigger chance of not getting executed and/or getting pissed off for his uncle dying?

I don't think there is a definitive answer.

On one hand, Gared promised Lord Forrester he would defend the North Grove, and has spent all this time, gone through so much, to find it.

However, Ironrath has fallen, and Rodrik / Asher need all the help they can get. So maybe marching south to find and assist them would have been what Gregor really wanted after all. It's hard to say... but I subscribe to this theory.

    • "He told me the North Grove can never be lost."

    • "And if he was here now, he would be telling you Ironrath can never be lost."

For me, though, Gared marching south to find Rodrik (who killed his uncle) sounds far more exciting than staying to defend a grove that consistently disappointed me throughout the entire finale. Maybe staying will be the smarter decision, who knows?

Well, I won't, because the Lord of House Forrester is more valuable to me, and to my Gared. He considers them his family, and he will not be defending a grove instead of them.

  • I think Telltale knows most people will end up selecting to march south, so I wonder if staying behind was the right choice.

Or maybe your choice doesn't matter. Who knows, but we'll eventually find out.

  • Indeed we will.

But at the moment, the majority of people stayed to defend the North Grove. 52% or something.

  • Wow. The majority of people were smart. I can rather be smart but boring AF or have a good story in S2, but it might not be a good idea.

  • Staying behind and defend the North Grove might be good for the world in the long run, since Elsera hint that they have a role in a future war, maybe the war against the White Walkers (Or Others, for book fans).

But the whole point of Gared's mission of looking for the North Grove was to help save House Forrester, that was at least my Gared's motivation. He now have the means to help them with Elsera's warriors and Josera's wrag abilities. And letting the Forresters die would mean that the North Grove would be lost anyway, because the Forresters carries the knowledge of the North Grove's existence. If the remaining family dies, no one else would know where to find it for the future war.
