Does anyone think letting Rodrik stay behind is meant to be the canon choice?
Looking at the whole scene again, it seems like it is because when Harys uses the sword on Rodrik, he destroys his eye (while Asher only gets a bruise). And because of the way Gryff looks at Rodrik at the end compared to Asher.

Back before the release of Episode 6. Telltale released teaser screenshots. Five of them to be exact.
Of the five, one shows Rodrik riding with the sellsword army on the way back to Ironrath. There were no teaser screenshots of Asher.
So in conclusion, Asher staying behind was the canon choice. Not Rodrik.
*Also Royland was meant to be the canon sentinel
I was going to point this out myself -- but I figured I'd be minimalistic for a change.
Telltale clearly do favour Rodrik, though; throughout the entire series, he's taken up the majority of their screenshots and trailer time, meanwhile, Asher has not even had an avatar.
They clearly push Rodrik to be the "canon" choice, even though it's a minority one... same goes for Royland. So, good point.
I like your definition of minimalistic. XD
Well it is minimalistic... for me.
I started typing a tirade of points, and then half way through, deleted it and just put that instead. Which turned out alright, since you came along and summed it all up better than I would've done, anyway.
I don't think so.
If it was supposed to be canon they wouldn't let us choose.
Since Telltale allowed us to make the choice, there is no 'canon' choice. They can't just disregard a choice, as there is a Season 2.
There's no canon choice if there's a choice. Choices are kind of a big deal in the TellTale games:)
Strangely all the Screenshots applied to my choices, weird.
It was meant to be canon as much as Red Viper killing Clegane and freeing Tyrion was meant to be canon. Feels compelling like if it was dictated by the laws of drama, but it isn't the most interesting outcome imo.
No, not at all.
Choice games are around about what the player wants to be canon. If it was meant to be the canon choice, then I'm pretty sure Rodrik would of stayed behind no matter what.
There is never a truly canon choice, even when some choices are split 98% to 2%. That being said however Asher's story in episode 6 felt a lot more appropriate than Rodrik's for me.
OMG, THERE IS NO RIGHT OR WRONG CHOICE. STOP
yes but not all choices make an impact. there were cases in tell tale games were your choice doesn't have any effect on the rest of the series.
