MI:SE finish times?

Just interested how quickly people managed to complete their speed-run for the achievements? Just finished mine in 1hr28 but I'm sure there's still time to be wiped off as it wasn't perfect!

I'm top of the leaderboard on the 360 (or I was when I last checked) and did it in like 1 hour 8 mins I think, so if you want to dethrone me that is the time to beat.

3hours 55minutes, but to be fair, I didn't know there was an achievement for doing a speed run and I was enjoying examining everything just to hear everyone's voice, etc.

1:08 holy crap! yeah you are still top, mine puts me 37th but that enough monkey island for one day. did a first runthrough to hear all the voices and watch all the cutscenes which took about 4hrs as well. The voice acting was superb, especially Bob and the fettucini brothers. (His name was Robert Paulsen)

wow, 1 h 8 mins? Lol, I'm still on Melee island and just under 2 hours so far. I've beaten the game in the past, but am just taking my time. Maybe will try a speed run after I beat it.

is there a quick way to skip dialog in the XBOX version? because if there is, anything over an hour is a joke >_>

you can hold down Y to skip alot of the dialogue and cutscenes. an hour would be impossible in the 1990's version without this!

none, because I don't have it.

i didnt know you could skip dialogue in the old game? its been about 8years since ive played it so i cant remember much:confused:

In all of LEC's adventure games you can skip a dialog line by pressing the dot button on your keyboard.
  • edited July 2009
The Press Y thing still takes a while compared to the original, on the original I could go from starting the game new and walking onto Melee Docks in like 3 seconds by pressing Esc over and over. On the Xbox, you have to hold down Y for like 2 seconds before it will skip.

4 and a half hours more or less. I wasn't going for speed and I pretty much remember the puzzles.
  • edited July 2009
I have all the puzzles memorized and I still spent 4-5 hours on it my first run through, just listening to all the different dialogue and trying stuff.

Where is the satisfaction in rushing through a classic game. You should take time and appreciate the game for what it is and not try to beat it as quick as possible. That doesn't make much sense. Just skip though all the jokes and great moments just to brag on a forum that you beat it in a ridiculous amount of time.

I played through it first time in like 5 hours, enjoying all the new graphics and recorded voices, then tried to do the finish under 3 hours achievement and ended up top of the leaderboard too. Problem?

You're not getting the point! of course you dont want to rush through a game like this without listening to the dialogue. I spent over 4hrs doing this the first time but you need to do a speed run under 3hrs to get all the achievements. i suppose you wouldnt bother on the pc release but the leaderboards on the 360 version make it worthwhile :p

I'm currently number 8 on the Xbox leaderboard! I'm not sure what time I completed mine in. Must be under 2 hours.

I just did my second playthrough of SMI:SE on my 360 today, to get the archivements I did not get the first time around. This attempt clocked in at around 1H23M, and I am currently 19th on the leaderboard.

Speaking of xbox360, a premium SMI:SE theme was released today, which is kinda cool.

Just checked and my last autosave was at 1 hour 15 minutes.

eMKayeN, you've just been knocked off the top by karate schnitzl!

Nothing like pointless "achievements" to suck the soul out of an epic adventure game eh?

It's actually quite fun to play a game you've played a thousand times before in a slightly different light.

A couple of the achievements actually lend themselves to you playing the game in more depth, I think you'll find...
  • edited July 2009
Indeed. Only one achievement out of twelve possible encourage playing through the game quickly.

If you aren't playing the game "in more depth" to begin with then you're either using a walkthrough or not much of an adventure game fan. :p

Yeah, ok, I'm being a bit mean and unreasonable, anything that gets more people playing more adventure games should be welcomed, even if it's not to my taste. :)

Okay just finished my first attempt at a speed run and I'm ranked 11th on the leaderboard. :D

    My Gamertag is SHODAN Freeman.

Well, the first time I played the game, I took around 4-5 hours looking at all the different objects and going through all the dialogue. I already know the game (I've completed it a million times before on all different formats), so wasn't stuck at any point.

The achievements require you to play a second time round (not necessarily doing it quickly), but I thought I may as well get the 'fast time' achievement as well.

I have not just got into adventure games. I'm 25 and have been playing them since the days of Maniac Mansion. I think I am one of the ones who appreciates it as a genre more rather than less.

On my second run I finished in just after 2 hours, getting the achievement. I'm not gonna bother going any faster than that. The fun of the game is in the dialogue, and I hated having to skip most of it.

I got a fair 1 hour 30 mins which put me in 34th.
  • edited July 2009
Nice and slow, not using the hint system, 3hours 40min on 21% atm, so its gonna last 12-15hours :) its pretty amazing.

Its a good thing the game doesnt crash with the F10 switching between scenes hehe, i do that to check out every little detail that has changed.

The sound, Voice and Music quality is just amazing, not only just super high quality, Telltale can learn a thing or 2 there, i really also like the Voice actors, maybe Telltale can hire more or lend some from Lucas Arts!. Tales of Monkey Island should be a joined operation after all ?

People have already beaten it? I just got off of Melee Island! (In my defense, though, it's easily been ten years since I played last.)

I take it the achievements are only for the Xbox Live version?

fraid so, most of them are just story based anyway just urging you to complete the game properly. like getting both endings, learning all the insults, nothing too exciting

just barley under 1 hour that put me in 3'rd on Xbox live.
  • edited July 2009
Just started the game, and already I spend like 5 minutes talking about how the game improve and the time change on the very first scene. The one where the pixelated overview of Melee is turned into the 3D CGI, with the much much improved music. I am really touched, taking screenshots of this and spamming in channels I know I could do so legally.

And if this keep up, I think I might end up spending days or even weeks completing SMI: SE. Cool!!

...Or you beat the original and remember all the solutions :)

7 hours where i really took my time to talk to people, explore and have fun. The insult sword fighting was especially fun, but had some problems using what i learned against the sword master.

    Awesome game :)

2:37 try'd to speedrun it but i've done some mistakes that stole me some time, stuff like using the mouse instead of keyboard on the beginning etc.
