Who's death do you think was sadder, Rodrik's or Asher's? And why?

I think Asher's was sadder, mostly because of Beskha. Heartbreaking as fuck.

  • Rodrik's I think, I prefer Asher so I sacraficed his brother and it was really painfull to watch because of the things Rodrik's been through, all the pain and humiliation from Whitehills, and his love for Eleana, damn, go away ninja chopping onions

  • They were the same. Almost exactly the same

  • Which one did you save?

  • Asher. He was the younger brother and his journey back would have been pointless had he died right here

  • Rodrik, because you can see how satisfied is Gryff when he kills him, and it totally looks like he won everything, with Asher it is just sad seeing Beshka heartbroken

I found Rodrik's more upsetting since you can see that Gryff is viably satisfied and how Eleana reacts towards his death.

However I did look up Asher's death and it's upsetting to see Beshka heartbroken over someone who she considered a brother figure, but Rodrik's was more emotional from my perspective.

  • Spoiler in the title might be a problem for those who haven't finish the game.

I really liked Asher; the facts he finally arrived to meet his family and just died there and how they treated his body after (which was kind of a dick move) make it the most heartbreaking imo.

Still I let Rodrik live in my cannon playthrough and it was quite satisfying to be mad for revenge as him.

  • Both deaths were a stab in the gut. On one hand Rodrik can die just after his miraculous recovery, and on the other Asher dies about five minutes after he arrives after all that time.

Personally I feel like Asher's death was worse because it was more of an injustice. While Rodrik had been lord for a while and could have made some really undiplomatic choices with the Whitehills, Asher had literally just gotten there and hadn't had a hand in the fight so far. So while you COULD say Rodrik had it coming, Asher was blindsided and it was sick.

Asher's death is also worse if you consider what happens to each of their bodies. Rodrik is returned in a corpse cart (ironic) and Asher's head is put on a pike and his body fed to the dogs.
