What more can be done with the character of Batman?

Batman has been around since 1939. The idea of his character has, rightfully so, struck a chord with many people. So many different interpretations of his character have existed, and every fan has their favourite. Batman and his supporting cast are notoriously extremely flexible in terms of story telling potential. Batman himself has been reinterpreted as a pirate, a bloodthirsty vampire, a member of the Green Lantern corps, a demonic knight in armour, and a costumed psychiatrist over the years, just to name a few variations. Of course, most people like to stick with the traditional Gothamite Batman formula but put more subtle spins on it, as is the case with most non-comic adaptations. Some small details about Bruce's past might be changed, his rogue gallery might be altered slightly, and different aspects of his pretty messed up mind may be focused on.

We don't know much about the new Batman game, but from the looks of things, it is going to be a standard, faithful Batman adaptation. Considering that Telltale are the brains behind it, and the fact that unlike their other licensed games, it's not set in the original story's universe, they're almost certainly going to put some major twists on it. But what do you think they're going to do to make this version stand out, outside of maybe the choice based gameplay?

I personally think that Telltale will probably make this version stand out more by it's plot rather than just Bruce Wayne. Perhaps a mysterious new villain or two will be made up? I'm guessing that new character dynamics will be explored too, so characters who aren't often seen interacting may do so. So, yeah, what do you guys think Telltale will do to change things up compared to standard Batman adaptations and make it stand out?

  • Detective focused Batman would be a nice change. Haven't seen much of that since the 90's cartoon.
