Models in Gmod

I don't know Telltales stance on this but do any modellers know how to port the Tales models to Gmod so we can play around with them?

If nobody knows how to turn models into a gmod ragdolls but does know how to rip the models then if you upload the models somewhere I can find somebody who could. Thanks.

Pretty sure there's some kinda law against that.

Depends. If you dump the raw data as currently present in memory you're not really circumventing anything, so it could be legal (most laws say that copying without distribution is legal as long as you don't circumvent anything). And of course there are countries where is is specifically allowed to reverse engineer software for interoperability reasons.

However one thing that's almost certainly illegal is publishing it in any way, so if you want the data, you have to it yourself and you can't share it (that is, if it even is legal to extract it where you live).

TOMI wasn't made on the source engine so it would be a bit more difficult than other games. Would much prefer if they dumped to a 3ds format so people could make machinima.

Well it's only illegal if you downloed it without owning the game, Sell the models or Telltale ask them to stop.

And I believe it is possible as ounce it is 3DS format somebody can add bones and ragdoll it. They did the same with the Brawl models, Zelda Models, LBP models, Gears of War, COD4, GTA4 and Halo.

Distributing is not the same as selling. Giving it away for free is just as illegal.
And as I said before, even if you own the game (as if you could still own a game in today's world :( ) circumventing any protection to get to the data will almost certainly be illegal.

Well no other games developer has spoken against it. It's not like the don't know. Nintendos lawyers as it is are everywhere.

I'm just telling you that it is illegal. I'm not saying anything about developers accepting it because of marketing considerations/trouble of proving damages/whatever.

TTT's archives are encrypted and breaking that encryption constitutes a felony at least in the US and Germany.

If you create your own little Guybrush and name him accordingly, that is a Trademark violation on the other hand (which would probably also be ignored, but still.

Create your own little Guybrush and name him different and you should be in the clear. Or get an OK from TTG/LA.
