Tales of Monkey Island on Mac - works.

edited August 2009 in Tales of Monkey Island
Hi there.

At least the first episode runs fine with Crossover Games http://www.codeweavers.com/products/cxgames/
on my 2008 iMac with Leopard 10.5.7.

No Windows needed *gg*

Runs perfectly for me too (and on the same computer!).
    I love CrossOver.

Tempting, but an unsupported solution potentially having trouble down the line is keeping me from taking the plunge until A) the whole thing is out and confirmed to work or B) Telltale gets with it and ports the games themselves. Ha! No, no, I'm pretty sure I'm waiting for choice A.

Anyone try SoMI SE in CrossOver yet?

It's not working for me. The icon opens in my doc, but then it quickly disappears. I have the crossover games, and it looks like it should run fine, I did the set up and everything, and still...Any tips? Do I need any codecs or anything, this is all foreign to me. I've had this mac for not even a month. Is it because I have a laptop? I love asking stupid questions, really. Feel free to verbally mock me.

If you follow the instructions in this thread as well as the two other threads (especially the first) the OP of that thread mentions, you should have no problems running the game.

To ecco: I have not been able to run SoMI SE in CrossOver Games 7.2.2 (after much fiddling, all I get is the music over a black screen) but a Codeweaver staff member mentioned in their forums that he was able to run the game using one of their CrossOver Games nightly builds, so hopefully the next public release should make the game playable. Fingers crossed!

it worked really well for me. took a little while to get it working. I will be buying crossover games when the trials over.

the only thing I'm having trouble with is getting new maps for the treasure hunting, because when IE tries to open a new page, i just get an error. But oddly it unlocked the prizes on this website and unlocked the second map. But no cigar thereafter. odd. any advice would be welcomed ;)

also thank you to the people who provided me with the solutions in previous threads.

edit: nevermind, i only just realized there are only two so far, duhhhh

Woooo nice. I tried installing it in VMWare Workstation, doesn't work, I had to borrow a Windows laptop from a friend :(

So I guess now that I've installed it on my friend's laptop, I won't be able to try it out on one of my Macs ? Or is there some kind of "full uninstall/unregister" option ?

It works great for me, however my CPU is at 70+ degrees at all time. Is it just me, or is this common?

    My specs:
    White Macbook 13"
Core Duo 2.1 GHz, 4GB of RAM
    Intel GMA X3100
    Mac OS X 10.5.7

Great! I'll be watching the CrossOver forums for updates. While I'm disappointed and frustrated that Telltale and LucasArts continue to leave Mac users in the dark with no real plan to support them, I'm glad that we still have ways to enjoy these products. Thanks for the heads-up.

You have 5 installs or so before you have to contact customer support to get another, so install away my friend.
