Travis Willingham's performance as Harvey Dent

In the latest episode of Batman: the Telltale series, Travis Willingham's performance as Harvey Dent seemed to be phenomenal, compared to other episodes, and maybe to other actor's who played him. When half of his face burned is determinately burned, he screams like it's actually happening to him. He played it in a way that shows how someone that is naturally good like Harvey Dent is legitimately afraid of doing bad things, especially when he has his psychotic second personality to deal with. And when apologizes for his actions, he plays the character in a way how someone would act for actions that they aren't responsible for.

  • He did an excellent job. I felt bad for Harv near the end of the episode.

  • He is amazing! Best Harvey Dent ever!

  • Telltale's interpretation of Two-Face is one of my all time favorites, next to Batman: The Animated Series! He is such a well written tragic character, and I felt so bad for him the whole time! Travis did a fantastic job voicing Harvey, especially in this episode, and I'm very excited to see Two-Face in Episode 4!

  • He did Two wonderfully different Two Faces! He really does deserve an award over his performance. Simply incredible!

  • Travis Willingham's voice acting was godlike in this episode. That pained scream could give me nightmares, it sounded so real. The voice that Willingham uses when Harvey's other side is talking is perfect. It sounds intimidating and chilling without going over the top. When Harvey pops back out again, as you said, the voice-work makes it so you really feel that he had no control over what he was just doing or saying, which is the desired effect. Willingham really puts emotion into his delivery, which adds to Harvey's character for me. His voice acting really breathes life into the character.

  • He is amazing. For me, he had no burnt face, but I could still hear the internal struggle he had, with his rash descisions coming out, and then quickly apologizing for it. I never thought I'd feel this bad for Harvey, but it's heartbreaking to watch. The way Travis can go from mumbling, paranoid Dent to psychotic-thoughts-Dent to apologetic, shameful Dent is astounding. Give this man an award of some kind!! Emotional delivery is spot-on!

Two-Face couldn't be a more perfect villain for the Telltale format. We've seen Harvey's transformation and downfall depicted in different media before, but this is the first time we've taken an active part in it, which makes it feel that much more personal. Travis Willingham's performance behind the mike is the icing on the cake. His portrayal of the character is more authentically tragic in ways Aaron Eckhart's version wasn't, IMO.

Now I'm REALLY hoping we'll get a chance to disclose our identity to Harvey before or during the final episode. The opportunity to play out our own variation of the showdown from "The Dark Knight" is just too awesome to pass up.

  • Travis Willingham is amazing as Harvey, especially in this episode. In my main playthrough I saved Harvey from Oz, so I got the paranoid Harvey, and his performance was wonderful. You can feel his inner fight, knowing throughout the episode that he is changing and he can't do anything about it (although he tries to fight his other personality as much as he can).

I always saw Harvey as a tragic character, but Telltale's Harvey is over the top, just like Travis' performance.

  • I'd honestly say it's the premier voice acting for the series so far.

  • He's doing a brilliant job! Especially during his final scene in the episode. Felt so bad for him.

I got chills - CHILLS - in any scene where both Harvey and Two-Face got a chance to talk.

Really menacing... and actually quite harrowing to hear him break down. Totally nuanced performance.

  • It's really said to see Harvey struggle, and Willingham's performance really does emphasize that through. I have not seen how it changes when his face is burnt, but for a man that was obviously paranoid he sounded really authentic, good job Travis!

  • I was really impressed by Willinghams performance this episode and I've seen only the un-scarred Harvey part, so can't wait to play my second save.

His scene at the end of the fight in Selina's apartment broke my heart. :(

  • When they voice recorded episode 3, I am wondering if Travis was doing it while Laura and Troy was in the room too. Must have made for an interesting session.

They did record together actually. I admit I cried a little. He did such a wonderful job as Harvey Dent and I'm so glad he got his own appreciation thread :)

"Wonderful job" sounds a little too bland to describe how good Travis is. I'd say he even manages to top this:

  • My hat comes off to Travis! Masterful performance!

  • He was freaking brilliant as Harvey. I really hope he gets casts as Harvey in the DCEU.

My game has an intact Harvey and I just watched a playthrough where he's burned. From what I can tell, the way he says his lines actually does change, and you can tell he's more Two-Face in playthroughs where you don't save him. His voice seemed harsher and rougher at many points and more menacing in general. Travis did an incredible job with these little nuances and differences depending on your choices. Easily the best voice acting in the game.

It's too bad everyone's still going to be all like "but your choices don't matter"

Every scene with Harvey changes in some way based on the episode 2 choice:

    • The talk in the hospital has different conversations based on whether or not he was burned

    • Harvey's disposition towards Batman as a whole is a lot more hostile if you didn't save him (help him in episode 3 after saving Selina, and he pretty much tells Batman to fuck off, even in spite of Batman saving him that time)

    • Harvey's speech changes based on whether or not he was burned

    • Scene in the Mayor's office is quite different. Either you see a paranoid and semi-unhinged Harvey, who still has a moderate amount of control over himself, or you see a Harvey starting to buckle under the influence of Two-face

    • Scene at Selina's apartment, while Harvey gets mad either way, has dialogue variations based on whether or not he was burned

    • Harvey in the 'next time' trailer has a few different lines based on whether or not he was burned

But since the Two-face personality takes over anyways, everyone's going to act like it didn't even matter, which is a shame. If anything, I'd say the direction they're going in right now-- a choice to delay/suppress Two-face -- is much more interesting than being given the choice to prevent Two-face entirely. It provides some extra nuance to Harvey's character. We get to see his descent into madness from a more unique angle than usual for a Batman story; saving him and preventing his signature disfigurement, only to see him slowly descend into instability for a different set of reasons, is more interesting than having a binary choice where either he's Two-face or not.

If you take away Two-face entirely, you're taking away a huge aspect of what makes Harvey an interesting character.

  • Well, he isn't as good as Richard Moll, but he still did an awesome job. 9/10
