Batman_win8.exe has stopped working

I am so FRUSTRATED!!!! I've finally had the chance to sit down to start Episode 5 on Steam. I get through to the menu screen fine. I start playing and it comes up with the "Previously on..." screen and then promptly crashes and says "Batman_win8.exe has stopped working". I've tried running as an administrator, done reboots, reinstalls and everything else i can think of and nothing. I've not had any problems with Episodes 1-4. The fact i'm having this issue now is pretty unbelievable.

Is there anyone who can help me out?
