Telltale Blog Post #471. We won't forget you.

* You've left us. The world has forgotten you. Even Google doesn't remember you anymore. Forgotten so quickly, after more than a thousand voices were heard at your home during this fateful day when the world spun around you.

Let's make sure such tragedy never happens again. Post responsibly. And keep backups.

    I'm so confused right now.

I do not understand this post.

I think he means the post where everybody went crazy while waiting for ToMI - Launch of the Screaming Narwhal. The comments were epic!

    What who the what now?

There was a post number #471 on the Telltale blog when ToMI was released. And with the forum down, it was pretty much the communications hub on release day. There were a lot of stupid comments (there were over a thousand comments total) but also some pretty good and funny ones that I would like to reread. But that post was deleted and I can't find it anywhere anymore. So this thread is pretty much a reminder to make backups should the same happen when ep2 is released.

I'll also openly admit that I wanted to confuse you a bit :)

Ah, was that the one that said basically, "we're having some problems with the release, but it should be ready in a few hours"?

That was quite a comment-inducing post. I seem to remember some guy about every 20 posts linking to an IRC channel specially formed to whine and complain about the game not being out yet. Haha...

Darn. I guess I missed this.

It will return when you least expect it, when the world needs it the most.

By which I mean, we still have it archived for posterity, don't worry. :)

Telltale's waiting for someone to contact them wanting to do a master's thesis about the psychology of rabid fans on release day.

Man, I was here (as I'm sure most of you were) and it was crazy. We had SO many users on...it was ridiculous.

Hey, I only posted 2 or 3 three times, the rest were the 100 others that joined me on IRC. And we didn't just complain about the game not being out, we reminisced about the good times we had with the previous ones.

I remember I was trying to play Left4Dead but not concentrating very well as I kept on reading the comments of that blog!

Most users ever online was 1,335, 07/07/2009 at 06:04 pm.

I think we all remember that day. I always imagined it as hundreds and hundreds of fans trying to squeeeze through a tiny tiny door, and ended up breaking the whole wall... thus a metaphor for the forum collapsing under our weight! :D

Well... Seems to me it is time to reveal 2 secrets.

First of, the poster for the IRC channel was me. I was doing this basically to get more people into it. It really was fun there. As far as I could follow converstions there were really not much whining.

The frequency was set at random. The intention was that you did not have to read that much upwards to get the advertisement. As I couldn't keep the pace of reading the thread plus the chatroom I may have overdone it. I am sorry for that.

About the changing texts. After a while it was way beyond midnight. And at that time some of it sounded really funny... to me.

Secondly, I still have that thread saved to my harddisk :D

As TellTale killed it from the blogs there has to be a good reason. I haven't found it yet though.

Now I am questioning myself wether to post ist or not... any ideas? Or just let it become a myth, a legend, another secret of Monkey Island?

And as a third one: I still have a fair bit of the chats in the chatting room up to the point when it was released.

    any ideas what to do?

Another idea: maybe there should be an official chat for the release of chapter 2?

Just a thought as I was enjoying the first one so much...

Well I totally missed all this. I was waiting on the WoMI forums playing "100 Bottles of Grog on the Wall"...

I'd enjoy that... a brand new Private Pirates Club

It was pretty fun, wasn't it? Although it got a little confusing when people started talking in their native language (myself included).

Same place as last time, or should "petition" (har, har, har) TTG to creat an official one?
