The Screaming Narwhal's Cabin

edited August 2009 in Tales of Monkey Island
Guybrush seems to always have an excuse to never go into the Screaming Narwhal's cabin. It made me wonder, what's in there that he doesn't want to see? Will it be used in later episodes? or will it just be left alone? Will it contain a journal and a key inside like in MI1?

Although this is a minor part of the whole game, I just though I'd throw the idea out there. Food for thought.

    It's made from porcelain.

I'm sure they just don't want to waste the disk space creating another room. There is always a chance it will be accessible in later episodes, they've done that sort of thing with other series before. Only time will tell.

yeah i want to go in the cabin. i need to be able to go everywhere in a ship or i go crazy! let us into the cabin and the hold!

There's nothing in there. The room doesn't really exist. It's a prop.

    The cabin is a lie.

i was promised there would be cake in the cabin

It would be pretty sweet to see the interior cabin during one of the upcoming episodes but if thats not possible then maybe have an MTV cribs-like machinma short or youtube skit showing it off :)

I can actually already see this in my head

    Well, seeing as
there isn't a great deal of room in a giant manatee's stomach to explore
, perhaps we'll get to enter the cabin as soon as the next episode :D

Did anyone else notice that unlike Episode 1, you can't even TRY to access it in Episode 2?

Maybe because its not important? and also a convenient place for a throw away line?

In episode 3, either the Narwhal will be destroyed, or it will comically survive without a scratch

You can, but only at certain parts of the game.

He may even find part of the recipe for a Syrup of Ipecac on a much larger scale
so he is spat out of the manatee
    :P

I was hopin the The Narwhal's cabin might be like Sam and Max's closet
    Storing past inventory items
But i've realised thats what the Narwhal will be for
1st souvenir is the weather vane 2nd is the rubber mast
I hope we get to open it it the next episode

The game has Guybrush go into the cabin once while he's awaiting for the ship to arrive somewhere. It's just the player is never given the option to go in.

My guess is Telltale games didn't want to make a set model for the cabin --- and have you noticed that there are no buildings you go into in either game chapter except for a single room in De Singe's house?

In the beginning of Episode 2, I kind of got the impression that the cabin is actually a lavatory. Just check the outhouse door and Winslow's reactions.

Well, don't forget that the ship is made from whatever washed ashore flotsam island. The outhouse door is probably an example and was just put there as a door and not as an actual indicator that it's a lavatory. As for the inside, I couldn't care less. The incredible story, humor, puzzles, environments, and character development have me too interested in the rest of the game to be curious about the inside of a cabin that has no bearing on the story as far as we can tell.

I could have sworn the roof of the manatee's mouth went below the top of the mast and we heard a noise like breaking wood.

This was my exact thought. If Stan's there, perhaps Stan sells stuff that could provide a way out? The task would be paying him somehow...

In Disney's adaptation of Pinnochio, the puppet sets a load of firewood ablaze to make the whale sneeze.

    And the Voodoo Lady's shack.

    And...

Why would a broken mast stop you from entering the cabin? Or was that just an offhand comment? Also,
the mast was made of rubber.
Why would it sound like breaking wood? (Though I guess that is beside the point.)

in the cabin is every item that guybrush needs to solve Episode 1-4. He will be shocked when he looks into the cabin in Episode 5.

I can only imagine the entire ship is wrecked now. Sorry I didn't say that the first time. But let's face it - when does Guybrush need it again?

To... umm... sail back once he escapes his current predicament?

I was under the impression that the Screaming Narwhal would accompany Guybrush and his crew throughout this whole adventure. I guess we won't really know until the next episode.

I'm going to go watch that scene again and see if I can spot anything I missed.

    Edit: Upon further investigation
the ship looks like it was swallowed whole and left relatively intact.

The Narwhal is here to stay
He will collect objects on it
If it is wrecked it will be fixed
And we'll end up in the cabin eventually
    like Bosco's toilet
    The question is when
    I hope it's next ep
But who knows they may build the suspence
