Is Joker Really the Biggest Threat?

I was doing some thinking, and it seems like everyone is in agreement that Joker and his "friends" are the main enemy in S2. But would Telltale really do something this on-the-nose? Obviously, everyone already knows Joker and Batman are mortal enemies. Also, both the player and Bruce Wayne know that John was one of Riddler's "friends" thanks to Riddler's last words. It makes sense that Batman would immediately confront John and company to put a stop to them. But according to the episode 2 and 3 loglines, Batman works with a new power player and "allies" as a larger threat looms over Gotham.

To me all of this seems to imply that John wont be the main threat in Season 2. Based off of this information, and from what John's voice actor stated about your choices shaping what kind of Joker John will be, it seems to me that this season is more about John becoming the Joker than being your foe throughout the season. If that's the case then there's another unknown villain lurking in the shadows that's a threat to both Gotham and John's plans.

Just my thoughts, we wont know for sure until the season is released.

  • John is clearly unstable but has affection for Bruce and doesn't seem too far gone... yet. John seems to want understanding and friendship in a twisted way, but I bet that the rest of his group are more hellbent.

  • Johns hiding something in season 1 Victor Zsasz says that "Johns work is sloppy" and you don't just get committed to Arkham Asylum for nothing

  • We’ll telltale teased many times that choices determine how the Joker will act and telltale is really doing a good job having choices matter this time. I’m pretty sure Joker won’t be the main threat this whole season although many say him and Batman are fighting in the ep 5 thumbnail it doesn’t look like Joker to me.

  • I reckon that the Suicide Squad will be involved, i.e. Harley and Deadshot will be anti-heroes rather than villains.

  • I think either John is very cleaver and manipulating people including Batman right now, or he is kinda good crazy guy but there will be some kind of event where he will feel betrayed by Batman etc. and he will become Joker - as enemy.

  • Well... there have been some theories about the nature of the relationship between Harley Q and the Joker. Some are suggesting that she is manipulating him into being the deranged villain we all know him to be from other stories. So, it makes sense for John not to be the main villain but to be working with them. As far as who the main villain is... well the obvious (to me) answer is someone from the pact. The less obvious answer is the Agency. In order to appeal to Waller, Batman is ever so subtly becoming a villain himself. Or he could. I think this depends a great deal on how you played Bats in season one. Mine was merciful, well except for how he treated Falcone. I have no sympathy for straight up violent thugs like him, or serial killers. Kill the killers is fine by me. But Bats is better than Dexter because he believes in the rule of law. Imagine if that were no longer true?

    There is also this oddity.

Joker's red "smile" thing is seen at end of season 1, during the cliffhanger scene.

This definitely means he tries to look less like a villain.

Although, why Batman still has not investigated why the Joker looks like albino and has green hair, without red yes is odd. In fact, it's odd that nobody questions why "John" looks so weird. There is fashion, and then there is obvious skin condition. If only hair was dyed, it would make more sense nobody would find it that odd.

Clord, why do you hate Albinos? As if their lives are not hard enough...now we have Clord not only knocking albinos....but their attempts to stand out and add color to their lives. You sicken me Clord.

LoL in all seriousness ...it is a weird quirk of comic books that somehow people like the Joker are able to function without a peep from the masses...Like in the comics...Bane...I mean come on...he sorta sticks out...yet other than the people he has killed...no one else in Gotham seems to notice him.

  • When Riddler first said white faced prick, I automatically thought he was talking about the Joker/John. But I've been thinking about it. What if he was talking about Harley? We now know that Harley's wearing her white makeup/has white skin in this version.

  • White faced prick immediately sends image of John Doe to my mind, not Harley.

  • As stated by Waller, Riddler was feuding with another member of the pact. Harleen Quinzel...A woman known for having white skin/wearing white face paint.

Makes perfect sense to me that Riddler would call her a white faced prick if she was indeed his main rival in the group. Especially if she's the one running the show. (Like some people here are guessing.)

    I'm sticking with it.

Could be, would make sense either way. However Joker also gives this salt towards Riddler in a similar way, showing us that they have this ongoing beef.

  • Is it common to use the expletive "prick" towards a person of female gender ?

I'm sticking with Riddler referring to John Doe here, not to mention Batman has the option of saying this to waller "John Doe is involved".
    Direct reference to Riddler's words.

  • I think we use prick generally to refer to guys... Or we specify.. like that (name of girl) is such a dick.

  • Interesting theory, I like it, I think regardless John is going to "find a way" to go (Bat-Shit) crazy, but it's finding which is the :lesser: evil.
Either way episode one was so tantalizing, I was riveted by the story and the length of the episode 10/10 to me.

  • I've also thought of that. His hair is fine, but his skin is so pale it's impossible not to notice.

  • I had a cool idea that The Pact might be more antihero than villain, and that there will be another group of supervillains they are fighting against. Then later in the game Bruce can decide whether to ally with The Pact or The Agency.

  • The episode 4 and 5 stills seem to set John Doe as the main threat. He will face us not matter apparently.

The Agency.....Everyone can see they are shady as hell as well. God knows what they will do to us once we are no longer of any practical use to them.

  • The Joker killed The Riddler. I mean it was obviously him who shot the dart into his neck to prevent us from finding out his true nature. I think we'll be able to control him throughout the season until he reveals himself as the maniac that he is at the end of ep4. the agency will probably be the threat between ep 2-4
