On the other hand, the whole MI2's soundtrack (main theme, lechuck's, largo's, this one during the introduction when you talk to those two pirates, the skeleton's song.......) is for me the best music ever made for a video game.

that one is definitely one of my favorites. such an INCREDIBLE intro, setting the mood right. i still remember seeing that for the first time, and i still get immediately engrossed in it and want to play it all over again.
i hate to keep bagging on it, but these new ones just don't even touch that kind of legendary atmosphere and approach. i wish so bad they did.
the music doesn't even seem to be a featured part of these new ones, it's very much in the background. i don't remember a single musical moment from ToMI. EMI was pretty bad in that respect too, but still better. The first 3 really had a strong soundtrack, with scenes featuring clear up front music that set the tone completely.
I just love that little dance they all do as they sing along. And the voice-casting in that game, talk about perfect.

a great song for audio-surf but I first heard it when I joined a TF2-Server. I never went on that server again.
I don't blame you. If it wasn't for the Monkey Island theme sprinkled in there the song would be unsalvageable.
