    This gets better:

A humor tv show from argentina, realize of the joke and put it on air.
Now here they show the last part of that report, when Dr. Alberto Cormillot a really well known nutritionist is asked about this drink: On 1:46 you can heard him asking "what would SCUMM be??" XD
    Now its really epic.

Much better. The other video has no subtitles despite the title. xD

I did some google searches, and Scumm is an alcohol delivery service!

    Hilarious.

Le epic fail. Not since Richard Wilkins announced Jeff Goldbloom's death on live television has such a great cock-up been made.

lol lol lol!!!! Tha video is much more funny.
The nutricionist was "What would scumm be?" and then he said he googled it saying it was a delivery service of alcoholic beverages. To end this totally doesnt make no sense at all.

It does, i typed them ;)

I thought they were shown automatically if your youtube is set to English.
Here's how to activate subtitles and select the language.
Basically just click the bottom right arrow to find the CC button.

So sorry guys, but that use of the term is perfectly viable. Whether it's true or not that kids are drinking that stuff then that's a different matter.
The recipe is taken verbatim from the SCUMM Bar scene of Secret of Monkey Island and this guy thinks teens are really doing it.
  • edited August 2009
whats funny is that the news network wasn't smart enough to realize that if this was a popular trend, and teenagers were drinking kerosene and battery acid, that there would be ALOT of dead teenagers around

Honestly, you realy can drink small doses of parafine oil.
But i realy, realy doubt, that you would survive drinking sulfuracid, that is used
to ionise the lead in carbatteries.

Ah, C5N, keep failing at journalism.

For the spanish speakers (I don't have the time to translate right now), the doctor that appeared in the video comments on the matter:

Good for him for admitting his mistakes (I believe "Me equivoqué" translates as "I was wrong"). The doctor seemed genuinely confused and earnest, rather than the so-called "journalist" who seemed swarmy.

But I'm glad El buén doctor was man enough to own up to his faults. I tip my hat off to him. ;)

    Argentina fail XD

So who's up for some grog later?

Only if it's old fashioned lead-acid in there. That crazy new glow-in-the-dark uranium acid mix that kids drink these days leaves a bad aftertaste.

Okay Spanish speakers, I have to know, is this actually for real? It's not that I can't believe a news stations reporting something so inaccurate, it's not that I can't see them scare-mongering, it's just like, even the Spanish version of google has pages and pages of Lucasart fan sites etc. come up when you type in Scumm. Also, why hire a doctor to be an expert if you just have him google stuff? What are interns for? It just the whole thing really reminds me of the time on Chasers' War Against Everything when Chris told his "wife" he wanted a divorce on Sunrise.

    Gracias for that vid =D

... according to one Argentinian news agency.

First the Singapore Animation studio, now a drinks delivery service. LucasArts sure are expanding.

This may be the most hilarious "evil vidjamagames" story since the Mass Effect debacle. And for once, Fox and/or Nancy Grace and/or JT isn't behind it! Truly a historic event.

There are lots of "Scumm" deliveries. I can remember once laughing at a party when i read "scumm" on one of the delivery bags.

The only magnet i have of an alcohol-delivery service on my refri its one of a place called "Piratas" (pirates) and it shows the same logo and typo of PoTC

Now that says something about the creativity of the alcohol-deliveries guys.

The page can't be displayed... is it real? When I googl'd "scumm delivery" that site came up and was called "SCUMM BAR". Won't load though.

Found this photo on the website Jake mentioned.

If there's an Argentinian bar called the SCUMM bar, I'm going there right now!

Now the amazing here its not that he belived it was a true drink, but that he forgot about the SCUMM and pepperoni. Thats not pirate grog!

Yeah, but the guy who commented later remembered the SCUMM (and we learned there actually is a Scumm Bar in Argentina that delivers - Telltale and LucasArts need to go have catered company vacations). Everybody (including you, Ignatius) forgot the propylene glycol, though.

Let's send the recipe to Fox News and see if it has a similar effect.

I wish YouTube had a "loop" button... this is probably gonna circulate, maybe even make it to snopes... XD

Gotta love the internet- really stupid mistakes on national TV become international shame.

No, i wasnt. But i figured that when they saw a fairly alcoholized person laughing at a plastic bag, they didnt asked for answers, just move their heads in disapproval.

Yes, but when the first video came up they didnt mention SCUMM on the recipe. It is true though, that i forgot about the propylene glycol U_U

What person would assume that people actually quaff battery acid?
These news reporters really need to get some common sense.

Yes, but the original drink doesn't contain the ingredients Monkey Island or this spanish vid say it has.

It's like Monkey Island has suddenly become performance art.

More than it already was, I mean.

I laughed so hard milk came out of my nose. And I wasn't even drinking milk.
