Could two different characters be created based on our decisions?

So I was off googling "heroic Joker" and came across an article about Earth 3's Joker "The Jokester" and it got me wondering since there will be villain John and Vigilante John if villain John becomes The Joker and Vigilante John becomes The Jokester. Depending on if TTG wants a season 3 it could lead to a permanent divergence of characters. Instead of John becoming the classic Villain but the long way round regardless of our actions.
