Unfortunately, the release date will be decided by Nintendo of Europe staff.

  • edited September 2009
Besides, they don't even translate the game. I don't understand what takes so long...

Okay, so Episode 2 is finally showing on the UK Wiiware website - but STILL not in the Wiiware 'shop'.

It's nearly 11am here - what time do the Wiiware games usually appear online? Or is it the case that just because it is now on the website (it wasn't yesterday) doesn't mean it is being released today?

    WiiWare 11/09 list
Virtual Console - Rygar (VC Arcade, 600 Nintendo Points) - Solomon's Key (VC Arcade, 500 Nintendo Points) WiiWare - Spaceball: Revolution (800 Nintendo Points)

Look it's here on the website though:

    http://www.nintendo.co.uk/NOE/en_GB/games/wiiware/tales_of_monkey_island_chapter_2_14447.html

That's what made me think that it was coming out today - I bought the points and eveything.

Is there no way it will be released today then? Would it be there already?

and its rubbish. i got it for the wii thinking the controls would be ideally suited, however after having already played the pc version i couldn't stomach the dire graphics and sound on the wii version so had to buy it for the pc instead. shame you can't get refunds on the wii.

    Day 10 after US release:
Hummed Monkey Island theme all day.

    Day 11 after US release:
Re-completed the first four Monkey Island games. Didn't take long.

    Day 12 after US release:
Figured if I convinced myself to be anti-gun control the Wii would mistake me for an American and sell me the game. No luck.

    Day 13 after US release:
Paced in circles smoking cigarettes and mumbling something about how European gamers always get screwed.

Day 14 (2 weeks!) after US release:

Back to work today. Accidentally introduced myself to a client as Guybrush Threepwood and advised that he should "prepare to die." Suspended without pay tomorrow. Won't be so bad if part two is out.

JiFish, you better stop it, otherwise I'll look forward to every day that e2 is late so that I can read your comments :)

I don't even own a Wii, but as PS3 owner I can relate (or could, until I found out that Europeans can create an US account with American PSN cards and fuel it with their normal credit card).

    Hey all,

I just tried complaining to nintendo at:

    NintendoServiceCentre@codestorm.co.uk

Hopefully i will get an answer, but probably not

    Everybody want to complain too?:)

I would expect it this week, on thursday. There is absolutely no reason why not. I can kind of understand not doing it last week (contra rebirth was out, so having two decent games out on the same day would be bad for business) but as far as i know, there's nothing this week.

I don't have any wii points at the moment anyway. I spent the stars i had that i was goind to convert into the 400 points i needed on an irresistable 24cm pikmin doll.

I really wish telltale would lower the price though. Or give us extra discounts off the rest of their games. We are paying more, for the worst version of the game (albeit with slightly better controls), much later than the PC version. I wouldn't be surprised if Ep3 came out on PC next week.

Not to poke fun at a bad situation here, but I can't wait to hear what other wacky ways JiFish finds to pass the time for the next week.

Hey guys, I know I haven't posted on here for months, mainly because my pc became obselete with ttg games as of W&G, I was gonna create a thread about this, but that would possibly would peeve some, I am largely unfamiliar with this whole scene at the moment.

I DID buy Monkey Island Chapter 1 on Wii, and I AM aware of the general outcry on the general poor quality of the sound, graphics, glitches, etc, etc, etc.

All I want to ask is, will Chapter 2 be the same, I know with the ridiculous 60mb limit that would be hard, but its worth an ask.

    Thanks,
    Lachlan (human)

The worst case I ever saw was Shadow Hearts: From the New World. Japan release date: July 28, 2005; US release date: March 7, 2006; Europe release date: May 25, 2007. 1 year 9 months 28 days!

That said, I find this even more ridiculous. It's an episodic game for goodness sake! Could you imagine if a TV network tried to pull this shit with the newest episode of Lost (or insert-a-tv-show-here?) That's episode one, but we aren't going to broadcast episode two next week nor give you any indication when it is coming?

What with the free episode one give-away tomorrow, now might be the time to switch to the PC version. Which would be a damn shame, as I really like the Wii version despite it's flaws. Nintendo is essentially throwing money away and I can't understand why they can't see that.

How would we know? It's not out here yet!

    Day 15 after US release:
Suspended from work today. Was looking forward to playing all day - but still no Monkey Island. Sobbed uncontrollably.

    Day 16 after US release:
Felt ill today, so took another day off of work. Went to the Doctor, but apparently there is no such thing as the LeChuck Pox. Instead he recommended that I "go easy on the Pirate-based adventure games". Pfft, what does he know?

    Day 17 after US release:
Watched all three Pirates of the Caribbean movies. It's just not the same.

    Day 18 after US release:
Several WiiWare releases today, but none of them Monkey Island. Have come to the conclusion that somewhere in the ranks of Nintendo of Europe is an evil mad-man out to get me. I will track you down mysterious villain!

Somewhere around here is another thread that went up around the time the US version came out. To summarize, the critics were fairly harsh on it, but most of the forum users said it was a fairly drastic improvement over the first. We certainly aren't done making improvements though.

In my opinion, the voices are pretty darn fixed, and the overall framerate is significantly improved. It does still slow down in places though, not gonna lie.

Sounds good to me, the ultimate is whether I could get it free on that Wii Internet Channel Refund :D

Definitelly not, that Internet Channel refund will be used only for a NES Virtual Console game (and not even all of them, since there are some of them that cost more than 500 points)

Only when Nintendo is involved.. I was a big supporter of Nintendo up until the Gamecube, when it became very apparant Nintendo doesn't particularly care about anyone in Europe, and is happy enough to make us wait, and wait and wait.

Microsoft, (and Sony to a lesser degree) don't have these problems. Xbox Live games go up over here at exactly the same time as the American counterparts, which even uses a time frame that means we'll see them early in the morning, rather than updating late at night to suit Americans. And full game releases are typically only a day or two behind, with big games like Halo usually being world wide releases, and some things like Forza actually being released over here sooner.

I know there's been a lot of Nintendo hate lately, but in my opinion, it's well deserved. All I can do is recommend upgrading your PC and buying the games on there, or waiting for it to be ported to a console that cares about its users.
