Favourite Telltale Game Series After Monkey Island? - Alternative Magazine Online

hey guys!

Some of you may know me as the guy who has been interviewing Dominic Armato after my Tales Of Monkey Island reviews. I am a recent graduate and aspiring writer who is basically just writing as much as possible. I have just bought my site and will be redesigning it in the coming weeks (as well as taking on new writer, already have 2 new names you will be seeing!) I want to annouce some stuff, and then ask an important question!

So heres some of the site's latest stuff...

Tales of Monkey Island Spinner Cay review:
http://alternativemagazineonline.co.uk/2009/08/31/game-review-tales-of-monkey-island-chapter-2-the-siege-of-spinner-cay/

What Dom Armato (Guybrush Threepwood actor) thought of the chapter:

Worms iPhone review:

Not one but TWO reviews on Tarantino's latest, Inglourious Basterds:
http://alternativemagazineonline.co.uk/2009/09/10/film-review-inglourious-basterds/

But wait! This is not just a shameless plug. (Well it kinda is, but only because you guys have all seemed so nice and interested in what I have been up to!)

My question is as follows. I have access to all of Telltale's back catalogue, and I want to know what you guys want to read about most, after Monkey Island of course!

Sam and Max,
Wallace and Gromit,
or
Strong Bad?

Drop me a line here to let me know!

Sam and Max, though I also enjoyed Strongbad. In contrast, I could never really get into W&G, though I bought the season. Wonder if I should still play Bone.

I have played Bone episode 1, yet I feel reviews for those 2 games would be slightly outdated, especially as the series seems at a standstill for now. I plan to review the graphic novel soon though so perhaps they would make a nice alternative review.

Sam and Max seems the most popular so far! Wallace and Gromit may come soon anyway as the season is shorter than most Telltale seasons and the games themselves are not as complex.

Would full season reviews work or do gamers prefer individual reviews for every episode? I guess this could still be given in a full season review, just not in as much detail. Full season reviews would be good in my mind because overall, graphics and sound should stay pretty similar throughout a season, and you can treat it as one long game.

I think this post should be moved to the General Chat.

I have yet to play Wallace & Gromit (I don't like turning my PC on anymore and it's the only Telltale series that I can't run in CrossOver Games yet... I think I'll give the games - and my PC - a chance after playing through the next episode of TOMI) but I loved both Sam & Max and Strong Bad.
I voted for Sam & Max because of a more satisfying degree of difficulty.
As for reviews, you are right about graphics and sound staying pretty much the same throughout a season but, at least as far as season 1 of Sam & Max is concerned, the quality of the games varies quite a bit from the first to the last episode (still love the first few, but the last three are on a whole other level!).

It's a tie between Sam&Max and Tales Of Monkey Island.

My Tales Of Monkey Island coverage will continue no matter what. I have some cool stuff lined up and Dom Armato is answering questions after every episode.

I will get around to reviewing everything Telltale has done eventually. This poll and thread is more to see where I should start first!

    Sam & Max.

What do you mean after Monkey Island? Sam & Max Season 2 is still Telltale's best work. ToMI has potential, but hasn't made it there yet.

Reviews to be timely need to be of each episode and then there could be a complete season review at the end (I know that doesn't apply to already released games, but a thought for future releases).

Also, your links in this thread are broken, though in the other one they're working.

after Monkey Island: Sam & Max. Even before MI: Strong Bad.

Ya know, seeing how original and innocent these other titles are inspires me to play them because it makes them look innovative rather than mainstream. I've never even played Bone, Wallace, StrongBad....but I have played Sam and Max.

Thanks for the heads up, the links should be fixed now?

Also, I agree about reviews being timely, which they are on my site in this case :-P Obviously, earlier game reviews won't be, but I am sure people will still want to know what these games are like, even if they are yet to play, or have already played! I myself read reviews AFTER I play to avoid spoilers and allow myself to think in new ways about whatever it is that is reviewed (film/ game/ book etc) Also, my site will soon be offering older alternatives for new games, such as the games available on GOG.com.

So far, Sam and Max is winning by a mile. So, apart from reviews of these games, what are you all interested in? Interviews with the writers, voiceactors, musicians etc? An interview with Steve Purcell? Of course I cannot promise these things but I can certainly look into them, or any other suggestions.

For example, I have an interview coming soon on my site with David Bowie's son, the director of Moon, Duncan Jones! :D So I can be resourceful...:p
