Something Special For Us?

edited September 2009 in Tales of Monkey Island
I'm sure you've all read the blog.

http://www.telltalegames.com/community/blogs/id-503

And I'm sure most of you, like me, are telling everyone you know to get ready to download the free episode, in the hopes of marketing Monkey Island to the world.

But what's the special thing for us? I'm not worried that it's free, but I'm guessing there's some sort of bribe for us preorderers, as the blog says "There's something special for you too".

I wonder what it is? A minigame maybe? Free Game Coupon? Rubber chicken with a pulley in the middle?

Who knows!?!

Any of you guys got any ideas?

We'll all know by tomorrow. ;)

Hey, did I get that right? You're switching to GMT for dates? Finally, the European customers don't have to do all kinds of voodoo anymore until they know the actual release time!

I think someone mentioned we'd be getting some goodies at the store. It might have been about the free episode, but we'd just wait and see.

Tomorrow? You mean the day after right?

Oh woah! It is GMT! Finally!

So I only have to wait until tomorrow eh... Awesome

Seriously. I think I'm going blind. GMT times? Thats just not possible. American companys never use GMT times... :O

We're doing GMT for International Talk Like a Pirate Day. Your pirate day is starting very shortly after all :)

That doesn't imply that we'll always do GMT going forward though.

We have very high regard and appreciation for friends and supporters on other continents.

In most cases, our business day still runs on PST though ...

No no that makes sense, for an international day GMT is good, but I can see why you would stick to PST for everything else, it makes sense from a business standpoint.

Woo I'm looking forward to tomorrow. I've told heaps of people via facebook to bookmark the page lol, hopefully TOMI will become viral and spread to everyone!

Oh, quick question. Will the free episode be announced on steam as well? Is that why it's GMT?

I have a guess! It's a banner we can put into our sig, that says "MONKEYS".
  • edited September 2009
A Murray shaped candle? A one day cruise on the Screaming Narwhal? An invitation to Elaine's mardi gras party? A lifetime's supply of Grog XD (which would just be one mug)? A free "I beat the swordmaster" t-shirt? A free monkey meal at Planet Threepwood? A BRAND NEW CAR!? Tickets for you and two friends to see Keelhaul? A LeChuck toy? Who knows, I guess we'll just have to wait and see...

    Buy!?

    ¬_¬
  • edited September 2009
I may be mistaken ... I thought I remembered reading that prints of Purcell's art were for sale at PAX, and it would be nice to have a crack at getting one without shopping on eBay...
  • edited September 2009
I get what your saying, and i hope that they do sell the prints, however i hope thats not the surprise for us. It would be nice to have something free, like everyone else.

    That would be awesome.
    Or a preorder option...

Or a Ask Me About Monkey Island-Button.
    I still want buttons!

OMG I so wanted one of those buttons. Sucks living in Australia, where there ARE NO GAME CONVENTIONS!

I wouldn't mind free shipping though. But would that really be $7?

    Hopefully it's something cool.

    Free shipping to Germany.... hmmmmmmmm....

    What about...

    ...an "I beat the swordmaster"-T-shirt!
...two soundtrack CDs delivered with the DVD!
...an "extended version" of Steve Purcell's poster, showing the whole "Screaming Narwhal"!

    ...a sixth episode! Yay!
...and a Majus Flash movie to go with it. :D :D

    That would even be greater.

That would be nice, but if you try to calculate how much would cost TT to ship the game to all season buyers.. I think it's just not possible.

why don't you do it in both times (GMT and PST) it would make a lot of people much happier.
  • edited September 2009
Wouldn't nowadays the proper usage be UTC instead of GMT?!

Anyway nice for those living in UTC+1 regions. Using the right UTC time could mean the same release date for the whole third planet of this solar system. :O)

How about us here in New Zealand - 12 hours ahead of GMT let alone Pacific Time. Oh the wait.......

AVCon (annually in Adelaide) is supposed to be an Anime and Video Game convention. Then again, it's probably more anime focused and definitely not a gaming trade show like PAX. I've never been, not really that interested in Anime /or/ video games :)

Maybe Telltale is planning to surprise us by releasing the 3rd episode tonight. :D
That would be a big surprise in my opinion.
We just have to wait and see. :)

how about... TellTale tool? :))) in some cut edition, just to create our own MI movies?
  • edited September 2009
I think it would be really funny if TellTale released a promotional video that was MI characters in a TV show / interview / documentary setting. Having Guybrush answer questions or something. That way they could also bring back old characters that we want to see that may not be included in the already decided storyline of the season.
