Interesting additions. I'm skeptical that they are just made for the trailer, but hopefully they changed things so it's kinda new for old players.

Unsure, but it probably has to do with the leak in early July and how Telltale went out and confirmed development of a Stranger Things game, something that they probably weren't allowed to do (or maybe the general
media leak of it is what caused it in the first place, so telltale were doomed from the start...?)
Yeah. It was pretty much the leak + potential deadlines that weren't met in time. I mean, it was supposed to come out during Stranger Things S2 back in late 2017.
Apparently the deal they made had some bs fine print of "If this leaks before its officially announced you owe us a few Million" and then it was leaked. But the dumb part about it is they dont even know who the fuck leaked it, someone at Netflix could have easily done it and Telltale now has to pay, or even a random play tester or circle group could have leaked it and Telltale still has to pay Netflix.
What probably happened was it was leaked, Netflix got pissy and just told them to announce it. I doubt Telltale accidentally announced officially on twitter considering some of the articles I read that talked about Stranger Things mentioned how Telltale employees were very aware that if it was leaked or the NDA was broken in anyway they'd be fucked. So Im pretty sure they waited for Netflix to respond before they said anything official on the matter.
