Steam
I am getting back into pc gaming and trying out adventure games. I downloaded the free tales game for pirate day but am wondering if i can somehow link that game to a steam account without having to buy the game on steam. Any help would be great!

I would never use Steam for Telltale games. It's much more beneficial to get stuff from Telltale direct, because then they let you do season upgrades if you've got a qualifying single episode in your account, and plus getting the full season entiles you to the DVD hard copy for free (just pay for shipping).
You don't get any of that with Steam. Plus you can't use the freebie coupons on Steam.
The only time I've used Steam was to get LucasArt's release of Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition which doesn't seem to be available from anywhere else. So that's only because I was forced to use Steam.
Heck, that's what I do. Buy off telltale and then play through steam.
Well, that's not accurate. It's basically adding an icon to your list of Steam games to make it organized for you. But it doesn't really run it through Steam and it's not linked in any way as a redownloadable game. Just clearing that up for others.
There's really not that much of a difference.
so steam away. tomi wasn't announced on steam for weeks after telltale announced it which is the only reason i bought through telltale. i'll take a countdown timer telling me exactly when the content is available, over this setup.
not that the timer is compatible with telltale release dates,
If they sell through steam, they lose 30%. I only know this cos some indy game creator, the guy who made Aquaria, was talking about it on his forum.
Buying it through telltale so they got more mulah was actually the main reason I got it off TTG. I want MI to continue, and I want to support it. I mean, I could have easily just got pirate copies of the game, there's torrents everywhere, but it was morals that made me get it off TTG.
I'm fine with pirating the big end stuff, cos they're still making a fortune, but you gotta support Indy companies, and that was why I didn't buy it through steam. Plus the cover art.
That's still a lot less then the loss through retail-sales.
Yeah, that's true. That's why there are indy games on steam. But it's a bigger profit if you sell it on your website.
But if it is on Steam it will be seen by a lot more people. I never heard of Aqaria until it was on there and it is one of the best games I ever played.
I found out about quite a lot of indiegames because of steam. And I bought a lot of them.
