That's the way episode games should be !
Hi, I really liked Sam and Max coming back, but after 3 Epsiodes and a lot of reuse it was still kind of okay, but what i epected to be a "episode" based game.
BUT Monkey Island is just perfect, a really good and ongoing story with great humour ! I think it's nearly perfect !
The graphics are not the best but still i love the style ! Just continue with your great work guys !!

Me too.
What would give the visuals a boost though would be if TT did what they did so well in Sam & Max. Recreate a location we have already seen in 2D, but now in 3D.
Sam & Max's office & the street outside was fantastic! Really captured it well, even though it was low poly, low textured rendering. It was just right!
Who knows, maybe we'll see a 3D re-imagining of MI1's Monkey Island at the end of the game. That'd be fricking sweet!
I just hope a better one that we've seen in EFMI.
This is why I mentioned Sam & Max's office & the street. Judging by that, I think we can trust TT not to screw it up.
A cameo?! I don't want that!
References to the games are fine though like the idol in MI1 & the tiki idols in Tales.
Well yeah that's what I meant.
In that case, you weren't paying attention hard enough.
There are a few.
I disagree, they completely changed the entire block their office was on. Not only that, but the actual office itself was completely different minus the closet. Why did they even move the rat hole?
Look at the trailer for Freelance police. I think it had better graphics and stayed true to the source.
Not saying Sam n Max was bad, just no where near the level of quality of TMI or the original S&M. Kind of disappointing actually. It felt more in line with the Fox TV show than it did with Purcells comics or the original S&M.
Like it got hit with a huge nerf bat.

Not to mention they had the original Sam voice actor.... as much as the new one was similar in sound, the acting skill was no where near as good.
In the FLP trailer there is more enthusiasm than both seasons entirely.
*sigh* Okay, maybe it didn't look better graphically, but it was also nearly 2 years old before season one came out.
You know what was missing in the Tell Tale version? The guns & Liquor store, it was changed to boscoe's. Boscoe is so lame. What happened to the darker twist like the blood stains on the street.... I mean seriously it became happy mode with the most annoying support cast ever.
Sybil, yeah she lacks personality. In fact, everybody lacks personality in the TT version. The writing seems off too, or maybe it's just how the actors say things... or the sound quality. All I know is I knew a lot of people who dug Sam n Max. Almost all of them thought TTG version was unfinishable. They were just boring. Granted I never finished season 2 but I did finish episode 3. So I had well over 90% of both seasons played. The only episode that stood out to me was Night of the Raving dead or what ever.
Wish they could make Season 3 more special. Try to get that guy from Freelance police to voice Sam now that they are working with Lucas again. Have an overall complete story like TMI.... and don't force us to play with sybil and boscoe all the time. Adventure games are about meeting new people and encountering new puzzles... not Oh I know what I have to do before I even play this episode... I need to find an outrageous amount of money to buy some stupid gadget from Boscoe to finish the final puzzle.
It just was the same every episode. This is what we call boring in the adventure gaming world.
Same with TMI, which is why you guys are screaming for new memorable locations. There wasn't a single location as cool as the vortex from hit the road in TTG seasons. Even the moon some how felt lack luster.
Just sad really.
A cameo wouldn't be that bad lol. Sam n Max can exist where ever they want, in imagination land, in time, in space.... I would mind seeing max walk around with an eyepatch and a jack sparrow hat with holes cut in it for his ear some where off in the backround. Like don't make it all obvious and stuff... make it like an easter egg and that would be tight. Either that or paint a portrait of Max dressed up like a pirate (since you could do that in Hit the Road with the dressup game you got from Snuckey's) And hang it in the courthouse lol!
Judge Maxamillion Scab!
What is the first post saying? I've tried to read it a few times. And I can't.
He's basically saying Sam & Max was disappointing but Tales is perfect.
He says he played Sam n Max and it felt lack luster due to reusing environments and characters, and that it felt kind of stale by espisode 3, and this is what he expected for an episodic release.
He goes on to say that he feels that TMI is the perfect example of an episodic game and that he actually loves this one despite his bad feeling about Sam n Max.
Is English not your native language? I mean I am aware he didn't use the best grammar but it was clear enough to make sense out of it.
Thanks anyway.
I actually like chapters better too. But I don't mind so much for Sam & Max. I like the episodes that area so different from each other and can be about absolutely anything the creators want it to be about and yet all coalesce by the end of the season. It's like a beautiful symphony in perfect timing. SBCG4AP also works well in episodes, but rather in episodes that have nothing to do with each other because it ties in with how the website and flash videos are presented: all completely random and, for the most part, short. I guess you could say Wallace & Grommit also works well in episodes that don't tie together. A full game in chapters might be too much.
So, in closing, I guess each game series got exactly what they needed! TMI would never work as episodes and therefore was made in chapters. So I like chapters better than episodes personally but I wouldn't change how the TTG series of games other than TMI were made because they work perfectly the way they are!
The self contained episodes just wouldn't work in MI, but i thought it did in Sam & Max.
The guns and liquor store is called Bosco's in Hit The Road!! So that has been on the street for a long time.
See Bosco's name clearly printed on the storefront. I'm sure he just changed his sign sometime between the two games.
That would be horrid if the dog and bunny showed up...very confusing unless they were people in dress ups from the store in MI Two...I don't know who'd be wearing them though.
really?! ah sweet will havto check it out when i next play
Hmm, if LA's return to their old adventure games is successful, do you think Freelance Police is a possible candidate for resurrection? Even though everyone who worked on it moved on to TTG or otherwise, I could see LA passing the project to someone else in-house to finish/release it. (Maybe not the best example, but Full Throttle 2 comes to mind.)
