They would be dumb to not make their first game Wolf 2 as its whats going to be expected of them and gather the most attention. They need to start with a bang, so they need to do the game everyone wants them to make.
After that, they should dive into new IP territory.
Absolutely.
The main problem of the old Telltale was that they had no fallback IP or series to rely on, and nothing truly "owned" by them. We could have had that with the Elusive "Super Show", but it never came to be.
Bouncing from license to license, spending money like mad, it wasn't good for them.
Make new IPs whilst maintaining the old ones for when good ideas come running.
New seasons don't have to come out every year. That's what you have the other IPs for.
original IPs are scary cause it takes time to peak interest especially with a likely minimal teaser. I think their first game should be an already established IP to play it safe but if they break out it could be financially good (since not needing to buy a license) and bold to toss it up with something entirely of their own.
