"Open Your Eyes"

Second-to-last episode of this midseason. Last week was a fun episode, hopefully that trend continues.

As always comment after, while, or even before you watch!

Really liked it and it was surprisingly emotional! This was the first time in a LONG while that I've been surprised by a death in this show. I really wasn't expecting that. Interesting that Dante seemed to have gotten really attached to Saddiq since he said "I didn't want this", "Not you" and "Im sorry."

Very excited for the mid-season finale!

  • Wow, I really did not see that coming, that was a surprisingly great twist for this show.

  • considering how bad the show has gotten, saddiq's death was actually fairly well done. lots of tension in the scene and it was pretty well written for the most part. the flashbacks could have been cut though because the clicking was pretty clever on it's own. there was a time where i really appreciated the show for not using flashbacks for reveals but that doesn't seem to be something I can praise them for anymore.

  • Good episode. But why did he kill that old lady?

  • Carl's legacy didn't last long did it.....

  • TBH... Carl sucked anyway

Carl's legacy didn't last long did it.....

  • Guys, some of you say Siddiq was Carl's legacy. Uh... no. His legacy was ending All Out War.

  • To be fair he did last like seven years after Carl died, and even had a kid.

Carl's legacy didn't last long did it.....

Morgan could have done exactly what he did, just saying. Carl suddenly becoming a pacifist in S8 and being the reason to let Negan live and end All Out War made absolutely no sense when we were seeing him gunning down Negan's men in S7 and being a little psycho.

About 7-8 years in total I believe. Plus Siddiq’s child, which is still alive, as well as Negan (who’ll inevitably help end the whisperer war) as well as the end of All Out War in general, soooo...Carl’s legacy is still going on strong.

Carl's legacy didn't last long did it.....

  • We can thank Scott Gimple for that. Thats why they booted his ass from S9 and 10. Thats why the show has had a massive turn around since S7 and 8

  • I'm still confused on how Scott was reviving the show back in the second half of season 4 and 5 and was doing his job greatly and then season 7 and 8 happened, what happened to this guy's vision?

  • Season 7 and 8 were the best seasons before 9 and 10, fight me. 1 was exposition, 2 was literally just a farm, 3 and 4 were boring and mostly forgettable, 5 and 6 were great, 7 and 8 had a big ass war with one of the best live action comic villains as one of the stars. Sure, some decisions were questionable (killing off Carl) but ignoring the decision to do so, it was executed beautifully, I mean you’re lying to yourself if you say you didn’t cry at least a little. Still, I don’t understand the season 7 and 8 hate, they were fun to watch and weren’t just some walking down an abandoned road fest like the older seasons

But the best parts of the show WERE about that imo, walking in the woods or whatever in the first seasons just surviving, you always had that feeling of "someone might die at any moment" the show was also only focusing on a small group of people so back then when a character died it usually made a huge impact on everyone. That's what made the show awesome. And they also knew how to really develop characters back then lul.

People hate S7 and S8 because it was just nonsense obviously almost everyone liked it when it came out but after a while people started to get tired of this shit , 2 entire seasons about Negan and his saviors it should've been half a season or one entire season at best, with Morgan dying instead of Carl and then S8 would've been about rebuilding like in S9. I love Negan but he didn't deserve 2 seasons and he probably didn't deserve to live either lol.

  • The sense of danger for the main characters dipped pretty hard after S5. The only people who die nowadays either debuted in S5 or later. The S1 cast have heavy plot armor sometimes and its annoyong when they get out of imposssible situations. Ex. When Carol was hanging upside down and 10 Walkers swarmed at the exact. Same. Time. And she still killed all of them.

  • Except nobody did die at any moment. It was always mostly during the mid season finale/premiere or the season finale/premiere. It’s always been a rare occurance for a death during a regular episode, so the other seasons were literally just about boring wood trekking, with not enough going on imo

  • Not exactly mindless shooting if they’re fighting for a better way of life, with not only development on team Rick but also on the opposing side. Like how? Mindless shooting for a good reason, or mindless walking with no objective in mind? It makes no sense why you’d want that, it’s called the entertainment industry for a reason. TV shows aren’t supposed to bore you with realism and walking and talking, that’s what books are for, stop trying to poison the only good things we have left ffs. Little rant there but honestly, stop trying to make the things I love boring

Yeah, and what great entertainment it was. 10 million people stopped watching the show during season 7 and season 8. Sounds like entertainment to me. Meanwhile, S5, which arguably has the most "boring wood trekking" in the show is the most viewed season out of them all.

I'm not saying the reason why All Out War starts is bad. I'm perfectly fine with the reason. The problem is, especially for S8, is that it's just not well-executed for me. ESPECIALLY the first half has possibly the worst 5-6 episodes in television history where loads of background and unnamed characters die without any consequence whatsoever as well as introducing potentially interesting things (Morales return for example) and then butchering that not even 10 MINUTES LATER. I have never been so infuriated over how badly a show has been handled as it was handled then.

If a show bores me with action, then something is extremely wrong.

  • Not really. If people walking and talking entertains me it means that the writing succeeds. If action scenes bore me then the writing fails. In season 8 it evidently fails if you look at what I said in the previous comment.

Failing making an action scene entertaining means something is extremely wrong.

  • It’s a tv show about zombies, desperate survivors and communities run by dictators and freaks...not all genres need to be “omg, they just talked! 10/10 show. You tell me what kind of action a show about zombies and survivors butting heads is supposed to offer. A big ass avengers end game styled show down? Don’t be unrealistic! Why do you think the walking dead is so popular in the first place? I’ll give you a hint, and it most definitely is not because of the walking and talking (hint hint, it’s the blood, gore and zombies) that’s what the walking dead always was, is and will forever be, and if you either haven’t realised that yet or don’t find and interest in that kind of stuff, then I’m sorry but you’re honestly watching the wrong show.

What kind of porn...sorry, I mean “sensual art” isn’t entertaining. Had to throw that first jab in there, make some of them nudists angry 😽🤏😭

  • It's nothing haha. It's just a survival show where people get into their drama while facing the elements. But yeah you can only do so much before it get's boring.

Bingo. The point in running a successful show isn’t character development, or walking or talking, sure they’re fundamental components that are a must have, but if the show fails in entertainment, then what’s the point in watching? Like you said, there’s so much walking and talking that they can do before it becomes redundant, repetitive, pointless and all around boring, the saviours arc offered a mostly fresh take on the walking dead (tv series) which was taken completely in the wrong way by some people because, I guess what what I’ve been reading and hearing they would prefer a bland and linear show with reoccurring plots and themes that drag?

It’s what makes the new Star Wars show so great. Without going into any spoilers, it isn’t just a western space man who walks around and looks cool...and that’s it. It’s a fresh new take on Star Wars with the action scenes being something we’ve never actually seen in the universe before. It isn’t shooty shooty slap the booty, it’s different, and it’s great. Walking dead was just...the same throughout season 2-4 and a little bit of 5 as well. Walk, find a group of people, they either join or attack, you lose somebody around mid season or the finale.
