Upcoming Games thread
I don't think we have a dedicated thread for upcoming games, and I just want a place to do that. One that isn't purely dedicated to announcements during a games showcase or something
lmao making a new general discussion thread on the telltale forums in the year of our lord 2023, with only 8 people on this site.

Yeah, I made this just to have a place to post about Oxenfree II -- because I'm super duper hyped about Oxenfree II right now...
Oxenfree II comes out July 12, 2023!! on PS4/5, Xbox One/Series XS, Nintendo Switch, Steam and Netflix!
*Preorders are open now and at 25% off!! Wow wow wow
Synopsis and info:
TVs turn on and off. Planes lose radar. Radio stations can't broadcast through the static. In the small coastal town of Camena, unnaturally occurring electromagnetic waves are suddenly causing interference with electrical and radio equipment. Reluctantly, Riley Poverly returns to her hometown to investigate the mystery, but what she finds is more than she bargained for.
OXENFREE II: Lost Signals is the mind-bending follow-up to the critically-acclaimed narrative adventure game OXENFREE from Night School Studio. Play it as a standalone story or dive deeper by playing the original – it's up to you. As you play, you'll shape every step of the story through your choices. How you choose to deal with the supernatural events at hand will forever alter the future.
Your choices matter.
Shape everything through your conversations and dialogue choices. Forge a deep friendship with an old acquaintance from high school or opt to ignore a lost fisherman in need. Your choices impact who Riley becomes, your relationships, and the story options available to you at every turn.
Start chatter from anywhere.
Use an all-new walkie talkie conversation system to chat with contacts and uncover useful insights about the mysteries of Camena. Ask for info, check in with the locals, or completely ignore them. It's your call to make. And, it has consequences.
Stop Parentage.
Five years ago on nearby Edwards Island, a few teenagers unwittingly opened a portal, creating a rift between realities and timelines. Now, members of a mysterious cult-like group called Parentage are deliberately trying to open a new portal to pull something out. Who are they? What do they want? Are they trying to contact ghosts?
Tune in to the radio.
Ghostly signals are piercing through the frequencies of Camena. Tap into the eerie sounds and static using OXENFREE's signature radio mechanic. You’ll communicate with the supernatural, manipulate the world, and travel to the past by tuning into time tears: unnatural fissures in the time-space continuum.
Save everyone and everything.
Your future was on the line in OXENFREE and those stakes are even higher in OXENFREE II. Explore, climb, and rappel across Camena’s beautifully treacherous landscape. Take risks and see where it takes you. It might be dangerous. But it could also save the future. Not only for Riley but for everyone.
Sounds like some good old Oxenfree expanded into further gameplay elements and bigger narrative twists.
Very interested in how this relates to the first game's events, given that the inciting incident seems to be literally the events of Oxenfree 1 -- the kids accidentally opening a portal to some unsettled dead spirits.
Based on the limited info we have so far, but given that they specifically mention the events of Oxenfree 1 in the Parentage paragraph, I'm going to take a wild prediction and say that this malevolent cult's intentions are to:
find a way to bring back the dead members of the Kanaloa submarine, or change history to prevent its sinking. I'm betting that the Parentage name refers to the members being their long lost ancestors, interested in reconnecting with their parentage and ancestors...
I'm looking forward to Jedi: Survivor. I loved Fallen Order - so fun to play - and it looks like they've really focused on expanding the entertainment aspect. Looks like there's an interesting story too!
Also keep my eyes played for The Outer Worlds 2. I LOVED the first one. Sure, the combat wasn't amazing but man was it funny. Great dialogue. Had a blast.
The game is skipping Xbox entirely.
Honestly, I am kind of hyped for Starfield by Bethesda. I have a love for games about outer space like Mass Effect and stuff and being that this is Bethesda game they can easily make planets that have Easter eggs to other media like maybe they can have an abandoned space station that pays homage to the Alien series. I am just excited for it based on what they showed so far.
Hate to say it, but there's not really that many games that I'm really interested in, outside of potential/confirmed sequels to other games. I always keep my eyes open for anything that looks interesting or that I may enjoy, but as for original content, the well feels dry.

Did you guys play any games from the Kiseki/Trails rpg series?

Then you'll be as excited as me for the coming of Trails into Reverie to PS4-Ps5 this July.
Alan Wake 2 coming October 17th! Yes! Yes! Yes!
Surprisingly, you don't play as Alan (as far as we know) but an FBI Agent along with not-Sam-Lake as a partner, diving into Wake's mystery...
(Also with Sam Lake The FBI Agent in tow, this is a reference to the sneaky Alan Wake 'Return' EasterEgg from Quantum Break!)
Helldivers 2 coming this year! Third-person shooter gameplay! BIG Bugs! Democracy!

Sword of the Sea looks like a successor to Journey AND Abzu at the same time!!

Destruction physics heist-em-up, Teardown is coming this year to Consoles! I've been jealous of PC people for so long!

The Plucky Squire, the 2D-3D adventure game hybrid comes this year, more gameplay was shown, it looked very fun and imaginative!

Revenant Hill is a... something related to Night in the Woods (it has the same art style at least) and is in development. Nothing too big but surprising at least

I was a FOOL for expecting TLOU 2 Multiplayer Reveal. Fingers crossed for Summer Game Fest!
