yeah, def will be back. no way they would just end him like that. he deserves to go down more majesticly.

Given that they gave you the parrot back at the end of chapter 2 (after rebuilding it, no less) I would be extremely surprised if it does not make another appearance.

    Might also be a gag.

First you have it, and can't get rid of it, then you even melt it and yet it comes back.
And all of a sudden it's gone without explanation.
    That was quite unexpected.

I genuinely missed ol Golden Guybrush!
  • edited September 2009
I think we might see him again at the end in a gag, a bit like Murray at the end of CMI on that shelf.

The parrot could be sitting somewhere amusingly squawking "squawk! It's me, Guybrush Threepwood, mighty pirate" annoying the crap out of whoever can hear it. :)

/edit: Ooooh! I've got it! The parrot was lost inside the manatee at the beginning & DeCava & his crew were swallowed by the manatee again at the end. So lil' Guybrush is destined to annoy the crap out of the brotherhood for the rest of their lives! :D We could see a quick cutscene of it in the final credits. It could be just one part of a big montage in the final credits showing all the places & people you have met throughout the 5 chapters. A little like the end of Zelda: OoT's end credits.

The Pyrite Parrot is the real secret ultimate villain and will bring about Guybrush's and also the world's end.
  • edited September 2009
Murray should be stuck next to him in a later chapter. Would be pretty funny to hear Murray get annoyed and start threatening him with impending doom.
  • edited September 2009
Yeah, what's the deal with the parrot? Was his being saved in episode 2 added in last-minute? There doesn't seem to be much reason to say "Hey, whoops, must've jostled loose."

It will be presented as Exhibit C during the Guybrush Trial.

Of course, that's so perfect, I can see it now!

    "I'm not a pirate!"
    "This parrot begs to differ!"
    "I'm Guybrush Threepwood, might pirate."
    "Bugger..."

He'll be back. They wouldn't have gone to all the trouble to bring it back at the end of Chapter 2 only to lose it forever.

Unless Telltale realized that the joke had already been stretched out far too much :p

lol i like that idea. and i can see it happening. that or if there is some kind of court case then its like washed up sumwhere and sum1 put it on a shelf in the courtroom and when the judge ask's eg 'in your opinion threepwood who was it that killed all those orphans?' guybrush:' well..' parrot:' its me guybrush threepwood mighty pirate'

He'll be back, otherwise saving him at the end of Spinner Cay would have been pointless. He was probably just taken out to avoid people using him with every single thing on the screen.

Although a scene with Murray and the parrot would have been gold....

It's probably stuck somewhere in the "Screaming Narwhal", and Guybrush will have to retrieve it somehow. ;)

Interesitng fact: Screaming "Objection" on the DC metro, Seemingly pointlessly (I was playing the first game) gets you looked at like a crazy man.

Do you think it was cut for time / space issues?

If it was just an unused item in your inventory, it may take up valuable sound file and animation space!

surely he'll be back, for a simple reason: at the end of the second chapter, the queen (or king?..) of manatee gave it again to guybrush, after his cruel end (and you all remember what i'm talking about). There will be a reason behind his "revival".
  • edited September 2009
I think this thing overstayed it's welcome and good riddance.

IMO it shouldn't be brought back. It was a nice gag the parrot being impossibly revived at the end of chapter 2 by the mermen (like the game saying: No you will not get rid of it!) and in the start of chapter 3 - Poof, it's now gone forever.

    Haha. Perfect!

Pyrite Parrot for C4 needs to happen! *Imagines Stan and the PP in the courtroom*

Stan is another character that needs to stay out. I don't think Telltale should pull in EVERY recurring character from the previous games no matter what. I was really impressed with the clever way Murray was implemented in CH3 but it can't be like that every time.

I know it's from a different gaming realm entirely but I wonder if anyone here plays the "Metal Gear Solid" series. The main problem with it's storyline is that every subsequent game insists on incorporating and building on ALL the plot elements from all the previous games - and the results are just 'UGH'...

Why does everyone like the annoying parrot? Its just a gold parrot that repeats the same line we hear all the time. It's not a funny line, its not meant to be a joke, it's just how he introduces himself. I got SO annoyed with the parrot and am glad it's gone.

Thought you were about to say real secret of monkey island. I'd have preferred that to EMI's.

The Parrot's gonna return at some point. I wonder for every pyrite parrot he'll find he'll ask "Guybrush?"

Well the next chapter is called the Trial & Execution of Guybrush Threepwood. And the Pyrite Parrot does keep saying he's Guybrush Threepwood.

    ...

    Just saying.

I like the way he kept popping up at inconvenient times.

    Paraphrasing here...

Guybrush: "Heh. Who'd be stupid enough to believe that?"
Muffled parrot: "BRAWK! It's me! Guybrush Threepwood, mighty pirate."

    That made me laugh. :)

So I think the Pyrite Parrot got the boot intentionally at the start of episode 3, mostly because of what I read in this long interview (talking about inventory items from previous episodes):

"It's almost like you have to find a puzzle for it, where the key demands a solution.

Yeah, and there's a moment, and you'll know it in episode 3 where I get rid of objects in inventory, and I'm kind of making a joke about the fact that I got stuck with it. I don't know if you'll be able to tell... I think you will."

The interview is with Sean Vanaman, one of the main writers of Episode 3 (he's the one in italics).

I kinda like the idea that was raised earlier in the thread
of Using the Parrot to convince the courts that SOMEONE ELSE is Guybrush Threepwood in the Next chapter.
  • edited October 2009
I'm unsure as to whether bringing the parrot back would be a good idea; after all, it is a bit of a one-trick pony. I found it thoroughly enjoyable for the one-and-a-bit chapters it appeared, but it might be good to just leave it at that rather than have it return and outstay its' welcome.

However, I did enjoy the reference to it near the end of Chapter 3, upon looking at the picture of Guybrush in the locket:

"It's me, Guybrush Threepwood... Mighty Pirate. Man, even I'm getting sick of hearing that."

So the parrot simply migrated from Guybrush's pocket to...the Telltale Forums.

    Mystery solved.
