Chapter3: Are the boxes connected ???

Hi,

Near the end of chapter 3, our hero is stuck in a box.
When he tries to reach the rope the box drops and the other box goes up. when the girl tries to reach the rope her box drops and the other box goes up.

BUT, when she cuts the rope one box falls and the other stays where it was...

hmmm...

    they're also hanging from a rubber mast that should of bended when the pressure was uneven. or should it?

    I thought this at first, but then I thought, meh. There are a number of ways to stop that. Lifts have mechanisms of stopping something falling too fast, and whatever that was could have been used here.

    It's a cartoon. Cartoon rules. Also the most important rule: it was in the script.

    The cages are connected by a rope that runs across the yardarm through two eye hooks. There's a big knot between the hooks.
