Can you download the first chapter yet.

edited October 2009 in Tales of Monkey Island
I havent been on this site for awhile, since they released the 1st chapter of Monkey Iland, I was going to wait to download the single chapter rather than buy the whole lot in one go and download as they are realeased. I had a look at the site but I can't see a chapter one download.Sorry if this is a stupid question but I am not very good with computers.

Thanks.

your question has nothing to do with computers
it has to do with how ttg are distributing their game

And so far it is only a package deal unless youre in the US
I THINK you can buy epi 1 from amazon if youre us

You have to buy the whole set, but you can't play em out of order anyway.

It's not really an episodic series, but one big game split into 5 parts.

Or you could download them on the Wii. (By the time youve bought 2 episodes though, your hooked and realised for the same price almost you could have subscribed to all 5.) By the time Australia got episode 2, episode 3 was released on PC a few days later.. and I just couldnt wait. I'll prolly still by the last 3 on wii just to have a nice set of 5 Monkey Island Channels displayed on my Wii. Ahhh... <3. Take THAT, WiiFit Channel!

Single chapters are available on Amazon.com (search for Tales of Monkey Island or Launch of the Screaming Narwhal), and the full season is available as a pack on the Telltale Store or Steam and the like.

Yeah.. but I ordered something from Amazon once and it took 6 months for it to arrive. I cant stomache the idea of waiting that long to see what happened after Episode 3. I'd rather just buy from you guys. *nod*

But if you bought a single chapter off Amazon you wouldn't be buying anything physical, right? It's still a download isn't it?
  • edited October 2009
Yup downloads, Amazon are loving the digital distribution thing too :)

If you want to continue to rag on Amazon why don't you point out that it's more expensive to buy ToMI from them then it is from anywhere else.

    I mean the cads!

Eh, I wasn't ragging, just wanted to throw in my 2 cents....

But your right! The CADS! (Wow, really? Most expensive? How pricey is it?)
  • edited October 2009
Well actually it's still cheaper than Wii but at $8.95 an episode it's a rip.

But its still so much cheaper than the wii... (I d/led the first 2 eps on that before losing all restraint at waiting and getting it on PC - I planned on getting the last 3 on wii too just to have 5 slick looking channels.) =/

Actually, let me rephrase, at $8.95 a chapter its a bargain, just not as much of a bargain than the deal from Telltales very own website. Buy now (while stocks last*)

*Disclaimer: The advertised product is digital, stock is unlimited

*squints* You couldn't possibly work for TellTale with a sales pitch like that, could you? lol

Well, the download from Amazon.com should be available pretty soon after ordering, it doesn't need to be delivered.

Anyway, I don't really know about Amazon.com, but Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.de are without question the most reliable and the fastest online shops I know (plus they're never any trouble with refunds and complaints).

I just looked at the Amazon.com page, and apparently if you buy one episode for $8.95, you get a $2.45 discount on all other chapters, so that works out at $8.95 + $6.50 + $6.50 + $6.50 + $6.50 = $34.95 for the whole series, the same price you pay here.

Anyhow, if you really only want to buy from TTG directly, why not buy the whole series? If you want to see first whether your computer can handle the graphics etc., you can download and install the demo first.

You can also download single episodes from reflexive.com

Well I'll be. Guess I owe Amazon an apology. That's what I get for not researching properly :o

Do Amazon customers get the DVD at the end?

Thats a good point. Its kinda been six of one, half a dozen of the other, as far as costs go, but the DVD looks like a very nice bonus extra. If its TellTale only, that'd be a deal maker there, no?

Wut about Steam purchase? I'd still pay twice the price just to support possible sequel.

The DVD is only available if you buy directly through us, as we cannot confirm any season purchases made through Steam or Amazon. When in doubt, buy the season from us and get the goodies!

I've been wondering, are there any country restrictions there? The DVD isn't USA only, is it?
  • edited October 2009
I live in Spain and I got the SBCG4AP DVD. I suppose ToMI will be the same. So, no country restrictions AFAIK.
