Did LeChuck Always Have The Pox??

edited October 2009 in Tales of Monkey Island
Okay so LeChuck doesn't have the Pox and is human now, but did he always have it?

This is the first game we've seen him with the ringlets that signify the pox, and it doesn't seem to be making anyone else who contracts it into an undead zombie, just evil and fiery-eyed.

So, did LeChuck always have the pox since SMI and his ghost pirate days, suggesting that losing it took away his evil (or most of it, since he was evil before he turned undead), or was it a recent voodoo acquisition in the gap between The Game That Must Not be Named and TMI?

Thoughts?

    Perhaps.
The Voodoo Lady seems to know alot about it..
Perhaps it's another contradiction in the Monkey Island story line..
It's always been assumed that's he's always been evil and merely died..
Perhaps Big Whoop gave him the pox?
    God knows..
It makes for a good story though don't ya think?

My thinking is that the pox is new, and is tied to his unseen and unexplained resurrection after EMI.

Perhaps some evil voodoo force that brought him back to evil undead life?

The Voodoo lady seems to insinuate that the Pox of LeChuck is something that has built up inside LeChuck as he hoarded more Voodoo power for himself.

I thought of the Pox as the escense of LeChuck that the voodoo cutless brought out of him forming the Pox.
Not that he had been infected with it that turned him evil, just that the evil has been taken out of him and formed it.

I would normally agree with this, but the designers went out of their way to give LeChuck's face and hands the ringlets that signify the pox on others that previously has not been present in the games.

As posted above, the Pox is the concentrated evil LeChuck built up inside his being from hoarding Voodoo energy. The Cutlass of Kaflu tore that evil voodoo energy from his body, releasing it into the seas and into Guybrush. The Pox appears to be able to maneuver around on it's own and to be highly contractible and contagious.

Im guessing all is explained in the "un-made game" between MI4 and ToMI

I kinda figured that it was created as a result of LeChuck regaining his humanity...

The fact that its called "the Pox of LeChuck" seems to indicate this.

The Pox could be anything, though. It doesn't really bother me if its explained or not but I'm guessing it may be more clear in later installments as we may learn exactly what Guybrush did to LeChuck at the start of Launch of the Screaming Narwhal.

lou gehrig's disease was called amyotrophic lateral sclerosis......

Sometimes people rename things if someone noteworthy gets it.

Yeah, you totally have a point there. Maybe he always had it. My guess is that its only just been released on the pirate public, though!

I believe that most questions such as these will be answered in the final episode. But it's still fun to speculate, wonder and chat about it :)! I think that the pox was formed and created inside LeChuck's body from the overwhelming amount of evil within, the pox originated from LeChuck, he didn't catch it (those are my opinions and thoughts).

I believe serweet is right, and the cutlass extracted LeChuck's evilness to create the Pox. LeChuck is green and has spots not because he has the Pox, but because he is LeChuck and that's his normal gross Zombie appearance at the start of TMI. When someone is infected with the Pox, they turn green and get spots on their skin because the Pox infects them with LeChuck's essence making them look more like LeChuck used to look.

The "pox" is when people get infected with LeChuck´s evil powers.

But it has always been that: LeChuck evil voodoo powers.
And he has that since the first game.
