My trip to Plunder Island! October 24th.

edited November 2009 in Tales of Monkey Island
Hey peoples. I'm going on my first trip to the Caribbean next week and I'm really pumped. Anyone else ever make it to the Caribbean?

I'm going to stay on St. Thomas, just north of the town of Red Hook. It looks like Plunder Island to me. Blackbeard used to be there and Charlotte Amalie used to be a popular port of trade. I'll be also spending a lot of time on St. Johns, which is right next door and looks like Blood Island to me.

I'm going to try and make it as close to being in MI as possible. So I'll be probably look for treasure, go to a barber and put lice in somone's hair, go up to strangers and say things like "I got this scar on my face from a mighty struggle!!" or "There are no words for how disgusting you are!!" or just poison peoples pets with strange yellow flowers I find. I'm sure it won't be that close to MI which makes me a little sad. :( Would be amazing to experience a place like that.

Anyway, I'll be sure to take pictures of anything that resembles Monkey Island for you all!

Be sure to remark upon the shoddy, 17th century electrical wiring

You're going to love it! My family is from St. Lucia. The Caribbean is beautiful.

Oooh, St. Lucia was my first choice but my passport is expired so I'm staying in the U.S. islands.

    St. Lucia has beautiful mountains.

    Enjoy your trip!

If you experience something like that while you're there, then I'd admit that CMI was only a re-enactment of real life events and not really a story at all!

Let me know if caber tossing is still there as popular as it was 9 years ago.:D

there are spiders everywhere man! I have a friend who was bit by a brown recluse.

The Caribbean is awesome, I've been there several times on various cruise ship stops. And we honeymooned in Jamaica. Really great down there, you'll love it. :)

I'm sure I can find a hill with a fallen tree on it. ;)

Jhuddy, way to focus on the negative! I can't stand spiders. But we do have Recluse spiders in Northern Virginia.

Ryan, I avoided cruise ships. I didnt want to go to an island and have a time limit. A couple tourist pamphlets of mine said that I could get a 3 hour tour of Water island and the thought of checking my watch every 20 minutes to see how much time I had left didnt appeal to me.

I've rented a car and a boat so I can go wherever and whenever. So I'll probably find a scumm bar equivalent and just get wasted.

ah man im jelous! enjoy the trip! be sure to wear pirate attire 24/7
  • edited October 2009
I'm afraid I don't own any pirate attire, and if I did, I still wouldn't go out in public wearing it.

Hayden, Ill be gone from Sat. 24th to Wed. the 28th. It's only a 5 day trip, and hopefully I'll find Epidsode 4 ready to play when I return. :)

Yes, that is definitely a major downside to cruise ships. Only having a few hours on each island is nowhere near enough to fully appreciate it. Though, going back onboard the ship and having an unlimited, free buffet is certainly nice... :D

lol, I guess that's true... But that sure takes away from an authentic Monkey Island experience like I'm attempting to do.

That was actually precisely why I asked, to see if you'd be back in time to play it! You may wanna extend your trip a week or so though if you want episode 4 to be waiting for you when you return because many are predicting a November release. So you may want to drop by Skull (Duck) Island :)...

Bummer. I could have told you some good spots to go. Oh well...it gives you somewhere to go on a future trip!!!

    You're right about the mountains.

St. Thomas is awesome! I went there last year. Be sure to visit Magen's Bay... best beach ever. Snorkeling is fun there, and there are iguanas just chilling out on the beach. It's a trip.

Niice picture Calbear, It makes me a little annoyed I couldn't get my passport in time. :o

Mattman, Magen's is where I'll be on day 2. I saw how beautiful it was in the brochure. I heard the Iguana's there have the ability to steal limes out of peoples drinks without knocking them over.

Day 4 is the best day on the trip. I'm renting a Jeep Wrangler on St. Johns and going wherever I want on the enitre Island.

And of course Trunk Bay is on St. Johns.

Well, it was great and I want to upload all my photos and videos but my computer, which I also write my music on, isn't working... When I get it fixed I'll do all that. Thanks for asking though. :)
