    Awesome indeed!
Definitely NOT "the second lamest fan trailer I have ever seen"!
  • edited October 2009
I'm sorry to say that that was better than I could do. Good job though!

I am torn between my passionate hate for cosplay and my endless love for Monkey Island.

It's an interesting video either way.

The amazing-ness of this helps to ease my guilt over not entering. Not entering and having absolutely no chance of winning is better than entering and feeling like I may have been able to create something comparable. Also, dammit, Telltale fans are getting more creative. By the time the next Halloween contest rolls around, Telltale will be considered the spark that starts off the modern-day Renaissance, and I'll STILL not produce anything worth looking at. =P

For compleness, there's even a Sam and Max cameo, pretty darn cool. Unless Silverwolfpet or Majus have an entry, They've got a damn good chance of winning.

Wow, this was pretty cool! I laughed a lot - not because it was stupid or anything, it was very entertaining indeed! You put a lot of effort in this video, I guess. Great job! I'm sure you'll get a prize for this!

Now I feel like my entry totally sucks, and I should create something else... quickly. But I have no idea how to top this or anything, so...

Editing was good, costumes were great, music was a nice adaptation, yet the whole thing seemed a liiiitle bit too long :)
    Interesting and funny!
Now I require the telephone number of the actress that played Elaine :D
:p kidding, don't chop off my tail!

Is it just me or does LeChuck, kind of sound like shredder? I thought it was epic.

WOW! I have no chance at this contest now. :(

Yeah, you meant it. Quit trying to pretend your not in love.

Who the %*&$ is Guybrush Threepwood? :D
    lol, that was awesome

@ 2:41 mispelt "Octobre" but I'm being picky..... but good work

The only tiny problem I'm having with this is the horrible German accent of all of the guys - but that's just because I'm German myself and hate German accent, so most of you folks out there shouldn't bother... ;)

Great idea, two thumbs up for the effort! :)
  • edited October 2009
So, that wasn't that bad. I can't say I could do anything comparable though, I dont have enough people close by who would want to.

Wow, these guys have got to win something!

"What?! I defeated LeChuck once and for all - four times!" hehe :D

It really doesn't bother me... since the Majus flashfilms I pretty much expect any non-Dom Guybrush to have a German accent :p

And by no means is the German accent horrible!

I'm not particularly fond of the bad acting, and the voodoo lady's mangled jamaican accent that somehow comes out somewhat french.

I require the phone number of Guybrush, he's a wonderful pick for the role, haha. ;)

    Germans rock :P

I REALLY liked the music. I wish we could get some full MP3s of Movie-style Monkey Island music

    Great film!! Nice work.

I guess they're Germans from the French or Swiss border. The accent is very suiting on the Voodoo Lady.

But what would I get in return? ;)

Sorry if this appears twice, for some reason my reply didn't register the first time.

We actually didn't plan for this to be found by anyone also taking part in the contest, cause it just feels wrong to show it around before anything is decided, but we didn't know where else to put it up so we could send telltale the link. Which doesn't mean we don't love any and all comments from someone who likes it or someone who doesn't. We don't actually think we're gonna win anything with this, not with hundreds of entries and so many talented artists of any kind out there, but one can still hope...

Still it was a lot of fun doing this, talking a whole lot of people into coming from several locations together to sweat in a tropical hothouse (where else to find jungle?) and dress up as pirates in public parks... or to get someone to film the coast of Mallorca for us or build a miniature pirate ship in the middle of the night so we could sink it in a fish pond the next morning.

Btw. none of the people involved are from the French border EXCEPT the one who lip-synched for the LeChuck actor, because 'LeChuck' looked awesome with a beard and an evil laugh, but couldn't pronounce a proper 'th' in the right place. The terrible French accident of the Voodoo Lady is - obviously - fake and we just thought it would be fitting.

It sure looks like you had an absolute blast! :D

How far apart do you guys all live? And how long did it take to film the whole thing?
  • edited October 2009
Didn't these same people also do Lords and Ladies?

    Also, I didn't win. :p
  • edited October 2009
Hey, that was a really cool trailer. I love that kind of filming: Dress up as a pirate and fool around in public? Why, yes of course!
Anyways, good luck on the contest!
  • edited October 2009
Yeah, it WAS great fun marching through the local botanical gardens with LeChuck up ahead greeting everyone with a hearty 'ARRRR!'.

No one who came for the main filming date had to drive longer that maybe an hour and a half - those involved who lived further away like the one who did the music (again and again and AGAIN) only were in contact via internet and the final takes (Murray, flags, Sam and Max and the ship) were done at a place two hours from where I live, which happens to be where we did most of the filming.

Actual filming took three days in different locations and with different sets of people, but the editing, re-synching, writing the music and writing the set of shots and sentences we wanted to include (a total rip-off of the PoTC3 trailer if someone hasn't noticed yet ;)) before we could even start filming... uh... well pretty much since telltale announced the contest until the 27th.

Oh and YES, the one who came up with the whole idea is the person behind 'Almost No Budget Productions' and made the Lords and Ladies film some years ago with a different set of people altogether. Btw. of course Terry Pratchett knows, they got the license and all money made goes to a charity protecting rainforest for orang-utans which is, I think, rather fitting.

    Not rip-off - you mean homage!! :D

That's just so awesome. I really enjoyed the trailer (erm... at least 3 times over :p). You guys deserve a prize just for the feat of coordination - very much hope you get something!

Well... it was good for amatuers... but if you showed that to professionals it would suck so much... You could be in the IMDB bottom 100.

Wow, that`s a very teutonic attitude...are you from Germany as well, Geypi?

Until now I lived in the sweet illusion noone would take this for anything else than comedy anyway. I mean, at least the toy monkey, the model ship or the line "thats the second lamest trailer..." should have been giveaways.

Or is it that noone expects us to have at least some degenerated sense of humour anyway? I think Majus should already have told you otherwise.

Btw I`m really curious what you got up your sleeve, Majus. I expect nothing less than...something really awesome and the moment that I realised you would take part was the moment I accepted we wouldnt win.

And Masaimara has right: I think its bad Karma having gotten so much premature praise...

Lords and Ladies...oh right, that was us. You can still find the trailer on youtube but Pratchett himself didnt allow an upload of the entire "movie" ( I think the original phrase was "For heavens sake: DON`T!" and he was absolutely right)

This really shouldn't get a prize. If someone puts a lot of effort in something he shouldn't get a price unless it's good. I mean i can't sing for example. And if i made a song that suucked sooo much like this trailer for example i wouldn't expect a prize or a positive reaction. Look at Majus. His cartoons are brilliant!! Or if you look at the drawings the fans made. They are soooo good and talented. They deserve a prize and not this amatuer video of failure.
  • edited October 2009
Wow. This trailer seems to have made you really angry...

Gee....I feel a little guilty now.

Before this becomes a flame war: You are right, we don`t deserve a prize. I think we stated clearly that we do not expect one. And what is it you sent in?

I forgot to say that the line »Welcome to Monkey Island« by Herman (?) was brilliant, I loved that! Strange that I remember that the most. Where did you film it bytheway?

Mendrek, you’ll see what we did for the contest soon. :)

Man Geypi, just because it’s an amateur-project, it doesn’t mean that it’s bad. This piece of video is great because it’s full of joy of filmmaking, and this is what counts. People like that movie because you can feel the fun they had while producing it. (Bytheway, EVERY amateur-filmmaker should see »Be kind, rewind« by Michel Gondry!!)
Well, this kind of Fan-Art is not your taste, but that doesn’t mean that the film itself is a »failure«. Don’t try to demotivate them Dude :p Say nicer stuff (and, yeah, thanks for the kind words for my work).

»Joy of Filmmaking«, hmmm, this could be a TV-Series like »Joy of Painting«, with a Bob Ross Dude telling wonderful stories while making movies!

We filmed in Münster, Dortmund and near Kassel which was something new as I normally film in southern Germany (because I am from there and because of the castles) or in Hamburg (where I work).

And yes, its supposed to be Herman *g* - Masaimaras father by the way...

If Silverwolfpet gets hers, can I have the number of the actress who played Kate?

...I figured I would at least give it a shot... :)
