edited November 2009 in Tales of Monkey Island
The french TV channel Nolife (www.nolife-tv.com) is doing a "special evening" dedicated to the Monkey Island series. More than 2 hours of Monkey Island goodness, with interviews, reviews, secrets and analysis of the MI games. And pirates. And grog XD. And three-headed monkeys. And zombies.

It's on november the 4th, starting at 7:30 PM (Paris time) :D
(Subscribers will also be able to watch it on Nolife's website the next day.)

There's three trailers online :

J'espere que la vraie soirée sera beaucoup mieux que les annonces.
(I hope that the real evening would be a lot better than the trailers)

P.S.: And I hope I've correctly written the French sentence... and the English, btw.

By the way, it was a very great (and long) show : Two and a half hours of MI ! Lots of different original shows from Nolife but only about MI :

    - "Chez Marcus" (At Marcus'home). A playthrough of The Secret of Monkey Island : Special Edition for Xbox 360 (Chapter 2 and the beginning of chapter 3). In this show, the journalist Marcus plays a game from his own home in live conditions without editing,

    - "La minute du Geek" (The geek's minute) -two parts-. In this show, the journalist Julien Pirou (whom had the idea of the entire show about MI on Nolife and was finalist of Telltale Games'Insult Sword Fighting) explained the story of Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts (part one) and did a comparative of storyline between MI and Disney's pirates of the caribbean,

    - "Retro&Magic" (no need to translate it !). The show explained and described the first four Monkey Island, from SMI to EMI,

    - "Oscillations" -two parts-. It's a show about the music and especially the rythm and the cycles. The first part was about the main theme (from the pc speaker version of SMI to the instrumental version of CMI/EMI), the second part about the others themes (especially LeChuck's theme),

    - "Hidden Palace" -two parts-. A show about secrets, easter eggs and others hidden stuffs in a game. For MI, there were stuffs like the ways to "die" in every MI, the easter egg about the stump joke in SMI, MI2 and CMI, the end of MI2, etc...

    - "Critique" (Review). Two reviews in the show : One about The Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition, the other about Tales of Monkey Island,

    - "OTO Play". It's also a show about music but not like "Oscillations". It's about concerts, news, reportage. For MI, the main reportage was about the iMUSE system,

    - "Mon souvenir" (My memory). Some people from Nolife's Stuff explains his favourite or most important/significant memory he has about one of Monkey Island game,

    - "Interview". An interview of Dave Grossman, Mike Stemmle, Mark Darin (the three from Telltale Games) and Tim Schafer about Monkey Island and Tales of Monkey Island.

That sounds really nice! Like a bag full of treats.

Did somebody record it or could upload it, pretty please?

They interviewed Tim Schafer - how cool. Was it an old interview I wonder?

I think it wasn't old. In another show of Nolife, he was interviewed by the team about Brutal Legend a few month/week ago. It seems to me the pictures of both interviews are the same. I guess they don't use the Monkey Island part in the reportage about Brutal Legend but only for the show about MI.

About the video, I recorded it when it was broadcast on TV. Of course, the language is french (except the interview, it was english with french subtitles). The problem is that Nolife is the owner of the show and you can find it by subscription here http://www.nolife-tv.com/online-8567 (I know it's for french people first but I think it's worldwide).

Under normal circumstances, maybe Nolife don't really care if some videos of theirs shows can be find on the Internet. But, the channel pass through some money difficulties and financial crisis. The channel (on TV) is free by IPTV (it's broadcast on ADSL network free of charges in France but it's not a webTV, you connect your ADSL Box directly on the TV, like a cable receiver). In June, the channel, near to close, asked by survey if the viewers agreed to pay for it. The result was to keep the IPTV channel free but to do subscriptions for a catch-up tv channel on the web (for 3 or 5 €/Month, you can see the videos of the channel of the last year or since the beginning of it). The problem is only half of the people in the survey who said they agreed to subscribe really did it (maybe because if the IPTV channel stay free, why do so ?). Since last sunday, the CEO of the channel said the channel only need a few subscriptions are still needed to continue. If the channel don't have it, the channel will surely stop in a few months...

So, Uploading the show now seems not to be a good idea for me. Maybe Telltale can ask Nolife to use some videos of the show on Telltale's blog ? Like the interview ?
