He's not under oath at that moment, he can lie as much as he wants ?

    The Pox is a Lie!
(For those of you who don't know, there's a line that's rather well known: "The Cake is a Lie!")

It's time for another round of Spot The Portal Reference.

    ...wait, seriously?

That's what everyone is bugging over?

    Ugh.

I'm going to go hate humanity for a few minutes while banging my head against the wall a few times to try and bring myself to the point where I can identify with this sense of humor.

Umm, yeah. It's not really a big deal. I thought I missed something.

I thought having an eBay reference in there was worse contemporary humour. Not as bad as breaking the Monkey Island "deep in the Caribbean" mythos by referencing Australia in the fourth Monkey Island game though. It just felt very out of character for a game where the story has never needed to go outside its "world" to be funny.

    Portal though? Hmm.

And the "The Pox isn't my fault" line is totally a reference to The Empire Strikes Back.

I'm not big into first person shooters but Portal was insanely funny... have you played it? Actually now that I think of it Portal was more of a really funny puzzle game.

Yes, I did play Portal. It was dark, well-polished, smart, dark, hilarious, and overall one of the best gaming experiences in recent years.

However, "The cake is a lie" is not funny, especially out of context. It only worked at all within the context of the psychological experimentation, and outside of that it's just a poorly-concieved inside joke. It's really the worst kind of inside joke this side of 4chan.

Just saying "The cake is a lie" isn't funny. It wasn't even all that funny in the game, and now that it's been hammered to death, I kind of wish nobody else ever liked it so that I could avoid having to deal with Portal references that eviscerate what actually made them funny, changing them into jokes of the same wit as a man yelling "cheese" at the top of his lungs. Someone may find it amusing, and comment "lol random", but it's not good humor.

.....You aren't a good gamer, are you? Being all serious and such. Do you know a sense of humor is good for your health?

Protip: When showing a screenshot with multiple choice highlightable text, only put your cursor on the text you are pointing at to highlight it before making the screenshot.

In this case, try putting the cursor on the first line instead of the last line. That way it makes more sense.

I'm actually not good at gaming. At all. Can't pull off fighting combos, I suck at platformers, and I don't even think fast enough for most RTS games. I'm a fan of adventures because they go slow enough for my feeble reflexes to handle the action. ;)

I like humor, I just am not really amused by random pop culture references. Like Ye Bay, that made me groan. On the other hand, I laugh at stupid puns, like DeSinge's ATM.

    Yeah, Yee Bay was lame.

But the portal reference was pretty subtle, if you hadn't played the game you wouldn't get it.

    It was a good reference.

In the screenshot the cursor is on "The pox isn't my fault!" so I assumed that was the joke we were supposed to be looking at :S I couldn't for the life of me figure out what was funny about it.
