Nintendo Power and the end of Chapter 4

Fair warning, these spoiler tags are for chapter 5. I was just browsing through the new issue of Nintendo Power, which has an interview with Mike Stemmle in it.
"Elaine and Morgan will get really nice moments in the fifth episode that will hopefully mirror each other well." "In episode five you'll see how Guybrush climbs his way out of the worst situation he has ever been in and manages to shatter a cycle that he has been on since the very first Monkey Island game."

Now, I just read this issue a few days ago, and had a post on mixnmojo.com's front page not caused me to look back at it, I would've forgotten all about it, because really these aren't spoilers without the context of the ending of chapter 4. Having finished chapter 4 and gone back to re-read it, the spoilers are quite a bit bigger. Ordinarily he wouldn't have given anything away with this, but with the perfect timing of this issue coinciding with the release of chapter 4, it sort of takes a bit of the edge off the ending. Only a little bit, though. It was a pretty intense ending, after all.

I'm not trying to dig on Stemmle in any way, and I'm absolutely not saying interviews are a bad thing. I'm just saying that the timing is a bit unfortunate. Well, not that unfortunate to me, but I'm the sort of person who doesn't mind spoilers in the slightest.

Besides, it's nothing we didn't all see coming anyway, right?

Oh, come on. Anyone who thinks that the main character's death or the death of a person whose corpse then just SO HAPPENS to vanish(with the game pointing it out and saying "Hey! Woah! Lookit that! WINK WINK NUDGE NUDGE) are to be taken at face value is an idiot.

    First off, I did say:

Yeah, it's like 99% certain, but then you also see people posting theories on here like
"So are you going to play as Elaine now?"
which isn't an entirely stupid stab in the dark to make. I mean yeah, it's an almost absolute certainty that
if the main character dies, they're going to be resurrected somehow
, but it's hard to take anything for granted in a series in which the second game ended pretty ambiguously, either with the villain defeating the hero or with the whole game just being a dream.

Hmm... Do you think I should've put spoiler tags around the image links, just to be extra safe? :p

Funny story, to get the magazine into my scanner, I had to move the pile of stuff on top of my printer, and at the bottom of the stack is an original copy of Monkey Island 2 I found at a thrift store a few years ago. The thing came on five floppies and I had to use an older computer just to get the files off them.

Yeah, I would add that there are some spoilers for Chapter 5 in the article.

Am I the only one to want the image of cursed Guybrush and Elaine at the bottom of the page as a wallpaper? :D

So "shatter a cycle" huh? Ooo, did LeChuck just get totally retired?
Oh, and whee, Morgan not being really dead (of course).

And now I keep thinking of Guybrush getting out of hell ala Kratos

"emotional" take on insult-swordfighting. Um, wut?

That might be referring to the ending, where Elaine and LeChuck
put their own twist on the famous "cow" insult, this time with much more malice and hatred.

Then again, it seems related to Chapter 5? Though yes, the ending to Chapter 4 would qualify. But that part was a follow up to explaining
Guybrush working around the Land of the Undead
in the article. Guess there would be something else involved.
Swordfight match b/t Elaine and GB possibly, for whatever reason.

Btw, article says they're hoping a late November or early December release. Can we live with a 4 week wait D:?

I almost lost the will to continue playing when Morgan
    died
    . But when she
    disappeared and Guybrush died
too, I thought - hey, maybe it's not all that bad. Reading the spoiler pages I guess I'm right. Glad to have finished episode 4 though!
