Best Location so far?

From all the great locations we've seen so far, which one do you like the most?

I realy adore the Flotsam at nighttime scenery and mostly the interior of Club 41. Realy moody and piraty! Kudos to the design team. When compared to the scumm-bar in EMI, the Club 41 wins easily. Maybe the best "bar"-location in the whole sage, while Planet Threepwood-interior was great too.

I love Flotsam at night, because it is, as you said, very piratey. What an MI game should be like. I like Moose et all, but they should be in some game other than MI, really.

I'm also rather fond of Spinner Cay. It's a very enchanting and alluring place.

Woodtick...All of CMI...Knuttin Atoll...Melee...Lots of great locales in the MI series, really.

    The club looks nice.
There is even a wooden pirate statue hanging on the chandelier

I loved Club41. Excellent place; exactly the sort of pub i'd hoped for in any future game.

Flotsam at Night also had a very 80's vibe going on, Stans neon sign was glowing perfectly against the lanterns.

Manatee guts. All monkey head locations from all the games. And Skull Island (i think that was the name) that was really just shaped like a duck, or bunny rabbit from the right angle. Knuttin Atoll, Jambalaya and Planet Threepwood were all pretty excellent too.

Definitely Flotsam at night it was great I loved the moon the green glow from the pox cloud.... I loved how the Narwhal was out in the ocean and the lights from the glass blowers house and all the lanterns it was a great looking episode and its really what I have been waiting for.

Club 41, the Courthouse and the Voodoo Lady's shack are my three favourite environments/places/locations in the whole game which, I guess, makes Flotsam my favourite Island. Shouldn't we have a poll with this thread?

    Yes... wooden...

Club 41 interior. It's good to see some good ol' fashioned piratey drinkin' going on! YAARR

I wonder how much Guybrush owes the barkeep now....?

Honestly, nothing has come close to capturing the greatness of MI1-3. Every location had several areas to explore, and each one was memorable and unique. The fact that Flotsam Island only had 2 actual explorable buildings was pretty much unforgivable when you consider that just the first place you encounter in MI2 has something like 9+ locations (weenie hut, the pirate trio hangout, the bar/bar kitchen, Wally's cartographer studio, voodoo lady's swamp, graveyard, the carpenter's, the hotel). It seems like the only building interiors we've even seen so far are the voodoo lady's shack, the court, club 41, de singe's lab and the manatee...

Welcome to the crazy world of episodic content.

    And WiiWare.

    Indeed; this is the drawback.

I think they've juggled it well though, overall.

Yes, Flotsam looks great at night. I must confess that I don't care much for the day-time version, as I think it's a bit bland in both color and detail. Amazing what shadows and light can do!

for one it leaves more to the imagination and that is good for some "3d" art games... they can not be as background rich as 2d games sometimes.

I did like the interior or Club 41, very underground speak-easy like.
It'd be nice if there were a back story for it being this way.
E.g. Aussie Mandrill's pirate purge forced the club to be more discreet, that kind of thing.

And beyond the allusive pirate hanging from the chandelier, does anybody else reckon the alligator holding the dart board reminds you of the alligator in the Voodoo Lady's swamp home - CMI?

    Flotsam has been pretty great

If you look at it as an entire game there are more locations than stated. 4 buildings (Club 41, Courtroom, Voodoo Lady's hut, the lab), as well as 4 screens of interactive items just on the docks. Not to mention the whole forest and the screens of the gate/wind device. Sure it may still not compare to what can be fitted onto a 700mb disc, but Telltale has done a brilliant job with the amount of areas available.

You're not counting all that homogenous forest as memorable locations, are you? Or even ONE memorable location.
  • edited November 2009
I said locations, rather than memorable locations :P

    ...fortunately.

Even non-memorable locations take up memory. (See what I did there? ;))

I really liked Club 41's interior and the inside of the manatee. Oh, and I thought the courthouse was quite well designed too.

That having been said, I absolutely HATE the jungle. Once, in Narwhal, would have been enough, but it's getting really, really tiresome and irritating by now.

The best: The Tavern (so beautiful), Flotsam Island at night and DeSinge's lab.

The worst: This Annemon-Island and inside the Manatee, or however these two things are written properly, just ugly.
  • edited November 2009
Loved the inside of the Manatee, felt indifferent to the Anemon Island.

The problem is that most people love night-islands and all these labs/taverns but they can't overdo the night-time thing (people with SAD would get even SADder!) and I would guess the labs/taverns etc. Are only made possible due to re-using that damned forest .

I have the solution! Everybody either get a decent fecking internet connection or else just put up with a download that takes more than 10 minutes!

Personally, i've never experienced a download time from TT of more than about 3-4 minutes and that includes both MI & S&M. If the size thing is ultimately so they don't cut too much out for Wii I think it's a little silly. But i'm sure they have good reasons :)

Melee is STILL my favorite island in the MI universe (closely followed by blood island). In ToMI, I liked Spinner Cay (even though it wasn't very piratey, I just liked how they designed it) and Flotsam by night.
  • edited November 2009
Gotta mention Roe Island, the shack had soo much feeling to it that you could really tell someone lived there for years but are now missing.
  • edited November 2009
why do people get so worked up about club 41? the place was bloody EMPTY. and they tried to excuse it by making it 'ladies night'. I mean, COME ON! you had all these people in audience in the trial, and where did they all go when there was a recess? I am disappoint with that location.

Pirate on the chandelier was an obvious reference to SOMI. I love Flotsam
  • edited November 2009
Not actually that fond of Flotsam. Then again, it's very rarely that the beginning point ends up being my favourite spot. I liked the Voodoo Lady's shack, though, and I guess that's a location.

Other than ToMI, Plunder Island, naturally. *contradicts self all over the place*

    Manatee tummy!
  • edited November 2009
For some reason I really enjoyed Spinner Cay as well as its surroundings. Nobody else seems to care for it as much, but I really enjoyed it. I mean, I had a lot of fun inside the manatee, but the atmosphere felt strange for a Monkey Island game.

Inside the Manatee, because it's meaty and dangerous there.
  • edited November 2009
I liked the manitee interior and, I'm probably in the minority here, but I love being on the open sea!

I think I might be the only one who likes Flotsam's jungle. :D I like all the mysterious ancient ruins. Spinner Cay was pretty cool, too.
