    Where is it official?

You could play the excellent Sam and Max games and stay part of the community! :) Strong Bad is pretty great too, and Wallace and Gromit is fun.

There's other great adventure games besides Monkey Island, you know. Stay :)

    I'm pretty sure there'll be a season 2

Theres no way Telltale wont do another season after the success of Tales
  • edited October 2009
Unless Lucasarts decide to hang on to the license, or overcharge for it. Still, I'd say the odds of some kind of MI game in the next couple of years are extremely good.

Possible, but the reason we have had such a big influx of older licences is becuase they got a new president who enjoys these games.

Im still betting on a season 2. Problem for me is I dont want to wait a year for it :p

Unless Lucasarts decides to get legal. :p

And what I mean by this is they decide not to hand over the copyright again. I doubt that they will make another season. Lucasarts has to see money flooding into their main offices before they will actually do anything. If they do decide to make another one, I just wish they release it as a full game. Don't get me wrong: episodic games are great, and TellTale knows how to work well with them, but monkey island just feels a bit awkward when it isn't a full game.

Yeah Curse of Monkey Island never could have been splitted into episodic format.

    (hint: Chapters)

Lol. I guess my main problem with it is I have to wait a month to play the next episode. :D

Which is quite sad as now things are getting interesting and better than before.

I prefer episodic. It makes the whole thing a lot more exciting and, more importantly, feel longer. I would have never been part of the community if I'd just zoomed through it over a weekend.

Look at all the people on the forums. That's proof enough for me. :D

...and the first. And the third. And the fifth.

Still, I don't think the episodic format has hurt TMI one bit.

I am counting on Ghost Pirates of Vooju Island to ease the pain a little, so the abstinence is easier to handle. ;)

After TOMI, there'll be Sam and Max Season 3, which will be as funny as MI if not funnier. I love MI but I think Telltale's Sam and Max games are the funniest out there.

After SM3, TOMI2 will occur. If there wasn't a 6 month break, newcomers would be put off by the sheer number of episodes, one every month etc would be impossible to catch up with. It needs a cooldown, but season 2 will come. I'm sure of it.

I will miss talking about MI with you all.....
I like Sam and Max but not as much.... you may see me from time to time there.
  • edited November 2009
They must've had fun and made a fair bit of money... it only makes sense to continue such a series if we're still in love with it...

Surely telltale can be seduced into making us another?
  • edited November 2009
I hope so... and Im fairly certain it will eventually happen but its all in Lucasarts hands.. and they have not been all that great to its MI fans in the past.... they could very well sit on it for another decade... I hope this new guy they got heading the company doesn't do that to us though.

im hoping sbcg4ap but sam and max have been in a break longer so i guess there are less chances for sbcg4ap

I never saw the big attraction of S&M. It just isn't my humour style.

I hope they made so much money on TOMI they can hire more staff and make S&M3 and ToMI2 at the same time.
  • edited November 2009
Well, technically regard a ToMI 2, it's not official. I just wasn't thinking in that way. ToMI 2? Please?
  • edited November 2009
I fear the same though Tom... It bums me out knowing most of the people here will stop coming to talk about MI when there is no more episodes coming out...

Hopefully there will be a season two and hopefully it doesn't take too long to come out.

I'm optimistic for another (or more) season of ToMI. I'm sure it's been a big success and they likely had a lot of fun making it. But on the other hand, I'm sure they will also appreciate a break from it (not too long though). While I have no doubt that they work very hard on all of their games, I suspect they worked extra very hard on this game. They had some huge shoes to fill. And I think thus far they have filled them just fine. :)

I'm sure Dom is pushing them too...

I would love for them to do another season of TOMI. As it is, I'm going to be rather sad when it's all over.
  • edited November 2009
My prediction for Season 2 is early 2011.

    S&M 3
Some thing new (Ideally Maniac Mansion or some new IP)
    ToMI 2

If they could expand to stagger production so as we got a new episode of something every 2 weeks I'd be the happiest person alive.

Every week and I may explode with joy. (Ok... THAT sounded wrong...)

I just got this image of Telltale sitting around their offices with a complete build of Sam & Max Season 3 saying to each other "We could release this now but with ToMI still running it would just be too much awesome for them to handle. Better hold onto it until next year."

Yeah, this and Sam & Max Season 3 will help fill in the gap between MI seasons.

    ABSENCE. ABSENCE.

Unless you're doing things with your MI games that I'd rather not know about....

    Abstinence (n): any self-restraint, self-denial, or forbearance.

It doesn't have to be sexual. Pervert. :p

You're right of course. I thought about that right before I pressed the "post" button really, but I just couldn't resist.

In other news, I hope that if they decide to do a 2nd TOMI series, they wait a good long time. I don't want to feel like I'm getting too much Monkey Island... they've done such a good job with this TOMI series that I think another one right away would just dull the edge of this one.
  • edited November 2009
Telltale have a lot on their plate, but ToMI has been a huge success for them. I it would be realistic to think the sequel would be out maybe 2011. They'd be fools not continue it. They do need to give themselves time to iron out a story and stuff, and if they delay Sam & Max Season 3 any longer they might have a fully-fledged uprising on their hands.
  • edited November 2009
I hope they'll make another season. Sure, Sam and Max is really good stuff, but TOM is freakin' lovely! :)
  • edited November 2009
12 months would be the quickest I'd expect it to be, I'd rather them take their time and make it as good as season one, as long as it's not a 9 year wait again!
