ToMI Chapter 4 - Lame

edited November 2009 in Tales of Monkey Island
In a hurry to finished up for a deadline?

Ending is lame.

Jungle map puzzle too obscure.

Story line seriously flawed (how can the "Big Machine" cure everyone from the Pox yet turn LeChuck into his former evil self?)

If you don't like it, you should post this in "It's ruined forever!" thread.... Seriously, you got a reading problem if you don't check out all the latest threads. But yeah, next time PLEASE look at other threads before you create a new one.... it's really annoying.

    1. The ending was amazingly done.
    2. I loved the jungle puzzle. The map was easy and fun to play with.
    3. What "big machine"? If you mean the La Esponga Grande then how would it not? Have you followed the storyline at all? It is a sponge, it sucks voodoo into it, LeChuck, knowing plenty of voodoo, just took out the voodoo power it just took from the cloud and pirates.

Edit: But yeah, do what she said. --^

the map puzzle was the best puzzle for me.. I hoped it would be harder to get to the '?' (using more fold combinations)

I don't agree, the ending was the best I could hope for in such a drama-laden episode: "unholy this!!" (The drama is cool, still, it's not what I was hoping to see in a MI game, but that's a whole different story).
The jungly map was brilliance! One of the best thought through puzzles in the episode ~

Also, Mungo102, if you have played the first 4 monkey island games, you wouldn't mind all the craziness that goes on the series. It seems you are new to the game series since you just finally joined now then before.

While I have my definite issues with Episode 4, most of the OP's points are either too misinformed or too vague to discuss with.

Why? You're not exactly substantiating that. There are a million reasons you can think that, from
    thinking Guybrush shouldn't die
, to hating the puzzle, to
    thinking they overplayed it
, and a million other options. The post is too vague to discuss.
    Jungle map puzzle too obscure.
I think that the obscurity led to a lot of its appeal.
When I realized you could fold the corners too, that was the big clue. But how does folding the map change things? When I folded it with the corners folded down and suddenly got lost, it all clicked into place, and I thought "Wow, awesome puzzle!".
There are plenty of clues in this one, and it's probably one of the best puzzles Telltale has ever made.
Story line seriously flawed (how can the "Big Machine" cure everyone from the Pox yet turn LeChuck into his former evil self?)
There's actually no flaw here at all.
All the machine did was suck in the air, which had the Pox of LeChuck floating around. In conjunction with La Esponja Grande, it sucked in the Voodoo. The machine didn't change LeChuck, the sponge did. He re-absorbed the evil in the sponge.

And you have a reading problem if you don't actually read the CONTENT of the threads. Because if you had, you wouldn't be directing serious attempts at criticism there.

"Ohh dad look! There is a troll!"
"Oh you are right my son! And look what a prime example of a troll it is!"
    "What does he do dad?!
    "Trolling my son."
    "He seems hungry!"
    "Don't feed the troll son."
    The end.

Because it is essentially a giant vacuum cleaner with a spiffy brand new sponge voodoo cleaning filter. This was the only thing that sucked in this episode... badum dum.

I did and you got a problem about talking to others. Why don't you go back to that one little thread and keep complaining there?

I think you're too adverse to other people's opinions, and that you don't read the OP's post too much. :)

Guys, come on. Everyone's welcome to their opinion about the games, which means that you're allowed to disagree with them but not start being a jerk to them (or jerking them around) because you don't share their opinion.

WHAT!!! but I am American we bomb people who do not share our opinions!

Just kidding yeah... I agree people do not need to like that same things I do and as long as they are not trolling I like reading their opinions... I like debating storyline and things like that with people who have different ideas.

I don't get it. Why does negative criticism have to be stuffed away in one topic, while positive criticism may litter every corner of this message board?

Segregation..... Don't go all Rosa Parks on these boards!!

    Also kidding

    Couldn't agree more.
It's not like the thousand "OMG BRING BACK POINT & CLICK" like threads a day we had after the first chapter.

Remember all the arguing over the graphics people saying that they needed bloom filters and realistic models and all that... LOL

To be fair, I think that would be really cool. :)

    I just realize it's a financial impossibility.

And that only LA should make a MI game because "they're the ones who made the original" and that the art of the special edition was going to be so much better than the "cartoony" style ToMI was using. I wonder why they all disappeared after SoMI:SE was actually released?
(Incidentally, I think they do have good artists at LA, but I do kind of hope they modify the art style a little for Le Chuck's Revenge.)
