Allright im talking about Morgan´s death and the monkey. Everybody seems to think that monkey was Jacques, but i noticed he did have not a metal-magnetic tail!

Was this maybe a bug, or it wasnt really Jacques?

And here goes my theory:
Maybe it was another monkey? One of those following LeChuck orders? Probably Jacques (being the only one cured by the Marquese) tried to warned Morgan about this?

Remember the sword fighting monkeys in the cut-scene from chapter 3?
Also, Morgan was a hell of a swordfighter. Who could probably beat his moves? Well, nothing more dangerous than a monkey with a blade they say.

I think we got a case of eye-swirling, crazy brain washed monkeys.

What do you think?

I would assume the only way to have gotten the cat off of him would have been to deactivate the magnet, or try and rip the cat off, which may well have broken the magnet.

You do remember the scene in chapter 2 where LeChuck was whispering something to a monkey as Guybrush walked in on him, right?
    Same monkey, maybe?

Also, Jacques (spelling?) might have told Morgan about what was going on with all the other monkeys.

MAYBE THE MONKEY WITH THE PIPE IS REAL AAAAAAAH

    Monkeys of Montevideo perhaps?

    it's TIMMY TEH MONKEY?!

    ...

    please?

Something I noticed regarding Morgan's death is that when you returned to the laboratory and discovered her missing, the rowboat by the grease fire also disappears...

Make of this what you will!

Did anyone understand Morgan's last word(s)? She whispered something into Guybrush's ear, and there were no subtitles. Guess we weren't supposed to understand it, but I wonder if anyone did.

And yeah, I was wondering about her body and rowboat disappearing, too.

The rowboat was upside-down, it didn't disappear.

I don't think Morgan actually whispered anything. I think she tried but died before she could.

its one of those things they put in to make people wonder what was said... they do it in movies sometimes... Like Lost in translation

It sounded to me like she was humming. I couldn't tell though.

i think she did say something to Guybrush. Unfortunately he's dead too :D.

Why does noone find it weird Morgan said JACQUE TOLD HER SOMETHING? The monkey...can...TALK.
  • edited November 2009
She didnt move her lips at all. Maybe she is a ventriloquist.
  • edited November 2009
It's not the first talking monkey in the series. Oh, and Morgan mentioned she speaks a little Monkey in chapter 3. Plus all those monkey are not just monkeys. Sooner or later, we'd find out they are cursed humans, mark my words.

    Well, MI4 has talking monkies!

She told him to swing away. Which will be useful when the aliens kidnap Guybrush's son.

But now I've said too much.

I have been replaying the episode, and have checked. Once DeSinge runs out of the lab, if you go straight to the boat without going into the lab first, the boat is already gone.

So if you were suggesting that Morgan used it to sail away after her stabbing, that'd be a no on that one. Someone used it, but it would appear to me to be unrelated to Morgans death.

The boat isn't gone. It's overturned. Search more diligently and you'll find the hotspot for it.
  • edited November 2009
Overturned after the body disappears, even? I should look into this. Even so, the boat being overturned could still be an interesting observation.

I kind of thought she was just faking the death to create a way to disappear out of Guybrush's life out of shame or something, but then I had to find a way to explain the whole "there's a big ol' sword in my stomach and Guybrush quite blatantly pulls it out for everyone to see." Let us see what happens.

I doubt they accounted the time it takes for non player characters to travel distances considering Hardtack moves from the courthouse entrance to the jungle entrance because of the way the game is programmed.

While I said it as a joke back then, I would just like to point out what I said back in August regarding the monkeys being the secret masters here, specifically the bit after the edit regarding the monkeys (ignore the rest of it) as it now appears to be very very possible! Think about it: the Voodoo Lady has been manipulating you all in order to thwart the true threat, a threat she couldn't tell you because there are monkeys everywhere! Dum dum DUM!!!
  • edited November 2009
maybe she just kissed him on the cheek

The monkeys are not what they seem!
  • edited November 2009
Regarding the fact that the monkey near Morgan is not the electric Monkey and may be one of LeChucks accomplices:

I looked it up in Episode 2, Le Chuck is really sending a monkey out somewhere...

He sais 'Go and write with the shingle, the clam has almost grown feet.'

Wich leaves me as dumb as before. Any ideas?

Edit: Oh, btw. it's my third year and my third post. So, next post 2010 earliest!

True. I feel really old now. I'm only 20 :<

That show's banned in my house because I have a script-writing housemate who turns suicidal and violent at the mere thought of such nonsensical and aimless writing... :p

I always thought her lack of lip movement was just the Lip-Sync software having no audible audio to lip sync to.
  • edited November 2009
    sounds plausible ;)
but that was one of the very few bad voicings. you could hear she (the voice actress) was intentionally murmuring. she could have included a few “s” sounds.

PS: i really love the voice action. if they interrupt each other, the sound overlaps and it sounds really naural. in several other games you hear like “But you can’t jus” <pause, maybe long enough to see a hand gesture> “Don’t say nuthin’…”

I wouldn't say it's wrong, the cat just pulled off the metal cover (assuming his tail isn't made of metal?) Thanks for the clarification though!

I was referring to the whole "that's not Jacques, maybe it's a monkey LeChuck trained to be an assassin!" thing, but that works too.

Okay, Will, I apologize, I was wrong. You didn't ruin anything. No real conspiracy theory would be ruined by a mere confirmation by someone on the inside. This one's gonna last all the way to chapter 5.
