Stan's full name?? (spoilers, perhaps)

Stan S. Stanman?
Oh come on.

I was quite shocked when he mentioned his full name in chapter 4.
And I suppose the S. stands for... Stan?

I always imagined Stan to only have a first name.

Not that this ruins the whole game, or the character of Stan, but it reminded me of that Super Mario Bros. movie where they just called Mario "Mario Mario" for the lack of better creativity.

Discuss.

In my opinion this wasn't due to a lack of creativity, but rather due to logic. You know, they are the Super "Mario Bros.". ;)

What a silly thing to complain about, honestly. I can see where it might peeve off purists but it's really a small thing. Honestly, I'm surprised nobody complained about Stan being an exotic dancer to pay his way through college. I notice none of the people complaining about his voice in SOMI: SE are complaining now.

"Not that this ruins the whole game, or the character of Stan,"

I'm not complaining, just pointing it out.

Clearly this was the shocking revelation that would rock the world of Monkey Island

It's no less silly than the Simpsons. Lenny Lenard and Carl Carlson? Lazyyyy. Then there's Lou and Eddie, the cops.

    "What's your surnames?"
"We uh, we don't have them. We're like Cher."
I heard Penn's silent buddy Teller was gonna be named Teller T Talky but they thought that might be pushing the joke too far...

It's a joke on lawyer names. There's always a middle initial and "man"(usually pronounced "min"). It's the same joke used constantly in Harvey Birdman: Attourney at Law.

I dont get it.. his name is Harvey T Birdman, but that was the name he had back in that corny old cartoon of his. Phil ken sebben I can kinda see it as but he's no lawyer. Peter Potamus, Stan Freezoid, Myron Reducto... have any of them been given a middle initial?

Not to mention Phoenix Wright, Miles Edgeworth, Franziska Von Karma, Diego Armando etc.

Btw, still wish we had SOME kind of PW reference in Chapter 4 *sigh*. Stan going "Objection" definitely could've gotten some kind of PW style, 'speed lines in the background' oomph.

He didn't have a middle initial, nor the name "Harvey"(his alter ego's name was actually "Ray Randal"). And they pronounce the "Man" in "Harvey Birdman" as "Min", as it often is pronounced in surnames.

I like to think that Stan made up that full name on the spot. "Stan" is probably a fake name to begin with

The reason their names don't fit the lawyer stereotype is because everyone in that series has a joke/pun name (Larry Butz, Jaun Corrida, etc)

Or at least some desk slamming finger wiggling...

It also doesn't help that it's a Japanese game.

Oh, if it's a reference to cliché lawyer names, then I guess it's alright :)
    ^-^
