The Trial And Execution Of Guybrush Threepwood Review (Alternative Magazine Online)

Hey guys, my review for episode 4 is finally up on Alternative Magazine Online:

http://alternativemagazineonline.co.uk/2009/11/02/game-review-tales-of-monkey-island-chapter-4-the-trial-and-execution-of-guybrush-threepwood/

It took me a long time to get my thoughts down, and I hope I justified my score. I also hope you enjoy the new layout of the site (still a work in progress).

Our usual, monthly interview with Dom Armato to follow soon, any feedback is much appreciated.

You could brush up on the grammar, given it's being published on more than just a forum.
Still. It's nicely set-out and I agree (more or less) with your sentiments :)

Have you done the interview yet? I'd like to know how it was covering a much greater emotional range in his voice work this time around. Don't think he's had the opportunity to do this for Guybrush before, and he totally nailed it.

Thanks for the feedback, and sorry if there were any mistakes grammar-wise... I usually get quite good feedback on my Monkey Island reviews! (I have now updated the review btw so you may find any small mistakes are now gone!)

I thought it was great review, you captured how I felt about the chapter to a tee.

Thanks Toothless Gibbon, do you feel Monkey Island has grown up as well?

(I have updated the review with some small changes so it flows better)

Don't worry mate, the questions are already sent but I made sure to cover every possible angle I could think of :p 16 questions this month I think it was!

Absolutely, in terms of storytelling it's on a new level IMO.

Thanks guys, I am glad my 10 out of 10 hasn't drawn too much criticism. It is the first I have ever given on the site! I gave Uncharted 2 9.9 recently in a monster review that split readers... but this episode of Monkey Island really connected with me like no other game has done for a long time. It feels like we are getting closer to what adventures used to be all about: story.

Indeed; it was a well-structured review which seemed to capture what the average reaction to the game will be. However, I have spent so long living with script-writers that I tend to forget about sensibilities and give my honest opinion when feedback's asked for :)

It was only the use of "..." and the length of sentences that made me feel like I was reading the Guardian; It was not any deep problem! :p

Haha thanks Gryffalio! I also dabble in script-writing myself so I know where you are coming from :) Thanks for your honesty and I hope you enjoyed what you read! :D

Cant wait for your Chat with Dom about this episode.... Ask him if he was allowed to know what
    Morgan Whispered to Guybrush
Even if he cant say I'm still curious if he knows.
