Will there be a season 2?

Hello Monkey Island fans out there,

I am a huge Monkey Island fan from Germany and I loved playing every single second of Tales of Monkey Island. I would love to see a season 2?
But does anynone of you know, if Telltale already said anything about that?
And was the first seaso successful? I mean did a lot of people actually buy the game?

Maybe some of you have some answers to these questions.

If I want a season 2, I would like it as a prequel. If Monkey Island saga will end with "Rise of the pirate God", would be really epic ! After all the happenings in "Trial and Execution", it would be much better a definitive ending, than an ending with an usual "deus-ex-machina" that fixes all...

Sadly games won't always end as they were "supposed to". Unfortunately this has already happened with the Monkey Island series, as Gilbert wasn't a part of the team that made Curse and Escape.

Personally I don't think there will be a new Monkey Island anytime soon, but with the chapter system it's always a realistic possibility.

I'd have to agree about the prequel though, especially if Gilbert would be in the team. I'd also like to see that one as a "whole game" instead of one divided into chapters.

We already played the last part of the "pretend MI5" so why would we want that?

Prequel is not only the "pretend Mi5". Could be so many things...

On a small point, Isn't Sam N Max series 3 supposed to be started by the end of this year?

I think Telltale mentioned that ToMI sales were 'exceeding expectations'.
You can see that this board is also very busy and there are now more threads in the ToMI section then in the S&M section, while S&M has been going on for God knows how long....

Lucas Arts still owns the rights to MI. They have to allow TTG to make another game.
I'm quite sure TTG wants more MI (if only for financial reasons). The question is whether they will be able to make a new deal with LA. MI is chump change for LA compared to the Starwars franchise. They might have some other vision and lock up MI again until they feel the time is right.

*Sigh* LA is still looking towards Star Wars for money grabs. I wish they would appreciate MI and make a Monkey Island 2 Special Edition and let TTG do another game :D

I bet Dominic would love it too... Especially to do Revenge XD

There is no doubt that LA will most likely be happy to negotiate a license to produce a second series, The question is, will they want too much money.

Well, yeah, there's been nothing new about sam and max since a year or so, so obviously there's not much to be said on there.
Supposing their third season start, say, in january, and potential new MI stuff is left behind at that point, then it'll be the other way around ;)

Good X-mas present would be a confirmation of season 2 *wink*

I would love to see a second season. I'm 28 years old and the tales have made me laugh like when I was 15. Hope to see more!

My guess is that it's all on LucasArts.

You mean you think that TTG would jump on the chance provided LA provides the licensing rights? Coz I highly doubt LA is going to seriously consider devoting any serious amount of time to any non-SW franchise for at least the next decade or so. And comparing EFMI with ToMI...would we want them to? :D

(I would love to see ToMI 2: The Pirate God Strikes Back )

I hope so, and not 9 years down the line either!
I guess it will depends if Lucas Arts are a) willing to licence MI and b) how much extra they will want after the success of TOMI.

For all we know, Telltale got a 2/3 season agreement in the first place.

But I'd settle for July 2010 getting an email annoucing TOMI:2 and a special edition of MI2!

You do know both games were made by some of the same people don't you?

i don't really like prequels... If any character from TMI would be in danger in a prequel you would know nothing will happen to him/her since he/she is in TMI.

I don't know why everybody's being so hard on LucasArts. It's only been about a year and a half since Rodriguez stepped up to be president, and he's actually said some pretty favorable things about adventure games in recent days. I think the very fact we're playing a Monkey Island game is evidence of the changes being made over there at LA, and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if LA starts making moves to restore their heritage of producing great adventure games. Really, I think the only thing that's restraining LA from making a full scale MI game right now is the fact that the original developers are busy with their own games (Deathspank, Brutal Legend, Sam & Max). But who knows, maybe they're preparing some other new and exciting adventure game at this very moment?

I'd love to see a prequel with Coronado DeCava as the protagonist. :D

So? You couldn't die MI2 and that didn't make the game worse when Guybrush was in danger.

    Adventures in the Caribbean,
    The stories of Mighty Explorer(tm)
    Coronado DeCava

I would like to play a game like that, but that game will probably be too slow for the 99% of the people, considering DeCava's preference on solutions that take a long time to execute and that he seems to have endless amounts of patience (Imagine a game filled with puzzles that require days to be completed... and if you can't just think about collecting 100,000 grubs)
