Thing you'd want to get on/alongside the DVD

Since the "Sam & Max"-DVDs were already loaded with cool extras and the wonderful case-files complemented them in a cool way, I'm wondering what you people would like to see on (and with) the "Tales of Monkey Island"-DVD.

I for my part thought of several things to be ON the DVD:
  • First and foremost: Audio commentaries. I've enjoyed the ones on the "Sam & Max"-discs very much, so I hope the "Tales"-DVD will have them in a similar way. ESPECIALLY an audio-commentary with Dom (which he said he'd love to do)... I bet he has a lot of stuff to talk about (even if it's just the stuff from the "Private Pirate Forum", it'd be awesome to hear him tell that stuff with his VOICE).

  • A blooper-reel (outtakes and stuff)

  • Majus' hilarious "I wonder what happens...?"-videos

  • In case there's not a separate soundtrack release on CD, I'm hoping for at least something on the DVD

  • Concept art galleries... maybe animated... maybe with music-concepts playing in the background (oh right, just like on the S&M-DVD!)

  • Behind-the-scenes videos... as much as I'd enjoy a full-fledged LOTR-style "The Making of TOMI", I think it's a little too much to ask here. Some videos of the voice-actors in the studio or some design-/story-meetings (Ron's visits) would be great though.

  • "Guybrush and Elaine's Thanksgiving Turkey-Time Extravaganza"

Well, and regarding goodies to be released alongside the DVD:
  • The Soundtrack... damnit!

  • An art-book(let). If a separate hardcover-"The Art of Monkey Island" isn't possible, I guess a DVD-booklet-sized "The Art of Tales of Monkey Island" would do

  • DeCava's journal... in printed form

  • The Voodoo Lady's tarot-cards

Edit: Arrrr, damn you, typo in the thread title!

I think the list of extras you've listed there is spot on. I was thinking cast interviews and a blooper reel, but I'd be very happy with what you've listed here. Very well thought out. :)

ummm,...damn, thats all i can think of too, perhaps a retrospective of the monkey island series thatd be awesome.

I'd want the extras you mentioned in the OP, Earl Boen's voice as demon LeChuck in Episode one, (if possible) better soundquality, especially for episode 2, and a fix of that graphical bug in episodes 1 and 2 where white lines appear in the background.
  • edited November 2009
Yes, bloopers, that would be awesome. Maybe more alternate endings, like on the season 2 DVD.
  • edited November 2009
A VO one with LeChuck, Guybrush, Elaine, Voodoo Lady, and Murray/Stan/somevetcharwhoappearsinchapter5 in character discussing their escapades.
  • edited November 2009
Ooooooh, I know. How about an in character PSA starring Guybrush and LeChuck talking about the dangers of pox infection.

I'd love to see like stack loads of concept art :) also agreed tarot cards would be veryyyy cool

    Ha. This would be funny.

    "The more you know"

Actually, not really a bonus feature, but it'd be real nice if they could fix the graphical tearing in Launch of the Screaming Narwhal.

the "infinite" future Tarot card would have to be a lenticular card....

I'd love to hear Guybrush & Elaine sing the love song that was nixed from Curse of Monkey Island.

And, please - "I Wonder What Happened Before 'Tales of Monkey Island'?" And perhaps after?

This. Definitely, definitely this. The Sam & Max commentaries were amazing.
[*]In case there's not a separate soundtrack release on CD, I'm hoping for at least something on the DVD

Absolutely this. But I'd prefer a full soundtrack album.
[*]Concept art galleries... maybe animated... maybe with music-concepts playing in the background (oh right, just like on the S&M-DVD!)

Definitely. I love the TOMI concepts because they look so... TCOMIish.
    [*]The Soundtrack... damnit!

    Again, get on this.
[*]An art-book(let). If a separate hardcover-"The Art of Monkey Island" isn't possible, I guess a DVD-booklet-sized "The Art of Tales of Monkey Island" would do

    That'd be awesome.

    Again, awesome.

Oh, I'd also like a confirmation of TOMI season 2 somewhere in there. :P

Episode 2's sound issues were fixed with a patch, so that'll undoubtedly be the version on the DVD.

    A season 2 demo.

Well you listed pretty much everything a fan can get... Maybe a really short bonus episode, where you play as Human LeChuck, just for kicks? But that would be way too much.

What about interactive outtakes / bloopers?

I'd like a "feelies" pack like they offered alongside Sam and Max. It's impossible for me to resist because it harkens back to the glory days of Adventure Gaming. (Have we reached the SECOND set of Glory Days?)

Yeah, I hope they have "The Plank of Love" on Chapter 5's end credits if it ends well.

Digital copies of the Dial-a-Pirate and Mix-n-Mojo wheels.

    ...what?
  • edited November 2009
All the above, but please, with subtitles on the extras.
  • edited November 2009
I would like to see the soundtrack included on the dvd.. heck i would even pay for it if they would release the soundtrack separately.
Then i would like to see a "making of tomi" video which gives insights into the development behind the game.
    That's all i think. :)

Yes, I believe we have. Bask in the radiant glory that is adventure gaming.

Bloopers! (I hope they collected them). The plank of love and other stuff that didn't make it into (TO)MI would be great. I dont' really know if I'd need the soundtrack though. What difference would it make to using the TTG Music Extractor Tool? Am I missing something?

    Convenience?

How about a tour of the TTG offices?... It would be nice to see the faces of some of the TTGers that post here.

I've yet to extract anything but the main theme from the first episode, but don't a lot of songs just start/cut off suddenly because they're either supposed to loop or transition to an end track? That's the case with a lot of the extracted tracks from the Special Edition anyway.

Are we talking about other things besides the DVD now?

Murray the hand-puppet. (Inspired by Majus)

I think there should be no extras, except one of the TT team should just sit infront of a pc for about 50 minutes staring into it. Then we sit back and watch the complaining in the forum! :)

    Like a keychain or something...

I was actually thinking of a full-size real-life one that could perch on the top of my computer, but I suppose I could settle for less.... :(
  • edited November 2009
It would be cool if you could play all the chapters as one game but that might be tricky for the developers. I'd pay extra for that for sure.

Well, a key chain would be cheaper, smaller and there more realistic as a bonus item. Plus, there are key chains already that make a noise or say some lines when you squeeze them. And this one would say: "It's me! Guybrush Threepwood! Mighty Pirate!" Acutally, I really like that idea...

I'd love to see an intro recorded by George Lucas himself. I'd love to see him talking about how important graphic adventures are for him, how much he likes the MI franchise and how totally aware he was of the existence of TOMI.
  • edited November 2009
LOL... I bet he barely even noticed the amount of money it made him..... I'm guessing he doesn't look until it makes at least $100,000,000.
  • edited November 2009
Concepts and leftover designs, LOTS OF THEM! Also, if you could release a soundtrack around the same time that would be cool. Come on Telltale, being serious, I've got money, I want to give you the money but I want a Soundtrack CD in return! :p

La Esponja Grande, the miniature version of course, otherwise shipping would be tricky
