Omigod, she wants to merge with LeChuck's essence to become... LeVuckoo!

Seriously though, wasn't she horrified at the thought of all that accumulated voodoo essence being spread everywhere? We just assumed that it was because of the pox effects, but maybe it was because she wanted it for herself and had been letting LeChuck build up his store so that she could suck on it...

I'd have to replay it to revisit that scene (which, since it was so unutterably cool, I just might do) but how do you know it was LeChuck's essence in the jar?

What I'm more concerned about is the ending Ron Gilbert had in mind all along. As he was hired as a consultant then perhaps they wanted to make sure that TMI's story could still, organically, lead into his ending. Whether that will be the ending of the next MI game or one that comes after that is something that remains to be seen but before Chapter 5 I didn't really believe that the voodoo lady was manipulating things all along as LeChuck said; I assumed that either he was just trying to discredit her to paint himself in a better light or, if he was telling the truth, then the journal he found simply proved how she was manipulating him, who was evil anyway. From that perspective Guybrush is just somebody whose goals happened to coincide with hers and LeChucks' goals just happened to directly conflict with his.

    But after seeing that ending... LeChuck's defeat actually seemed pretty final, this time.... However that still leaves a number of possibilities;
    1. This means that either he will find another way back to the mortal realm, which seems unlikely to me (although if he finds his way back to 'heck' then he can easily get back to the living world through the portal on Monkey Island)
    2. The Voodoo Lady intends to destroy his remains, or at least store them where they cannot be found, so that he can't be resurrected again, however something goes wrong and he's brought back to life anyway.
    3. The Voodoo Lady really is evil intends to resurrect him herself, for whatever nefarious reason.
    4. The Voodoo Lady really is good intends to resurrect him herself, for whatever dangerous or misguided reason.
    5. LeChuck is not revived at all and the Voodoo Lady replaces him as the game's ultimate antagonist.
There may be other possibilities I haven't considered and, this being a particularly intriguing matter to speculate on, I shall probably browse to see if anybody has suggested any elsewhere on the forums :)

Wasn't it his belt-buckle in the goo?

She talks, at the end, about destiny shifting... and earlier she remarks that Elaine is a loose cannon, not caught up in the voodoo fates like wot Guybrush and LeChuch are. My guess is that's she's working for the forces of equilibrium, not good or evil.... and that perhaps a sequel will reveal to her that she's tipped the balance rather than the kept it steady? Either that, or "Tales 2 - Bride of LeChuck", either's good. :D

You know, first I thought it was his belt-buckle, but it just occurred to me that the belt-buckle was stolen by that Thief from the Thievery Den in the Crossroads! So, I guess it must've been his skull, unless he got it back somehow.

I like your theory. Plus, LeVuckoo sounds so catchy :D
And I can imagine her sipping LeChuck through a straw (although to do that, I'd probably have to lose my sense of taste altogether).

    Hahahaha!!!

    Earl Boen: Help...me...

Telltale: C'mon, Earl, we've got one more recording...

Earl Boen: But do I HAVE to be in the actual jar?!

    Telltale: It's for realism!

If that really happened, then considering that Guybrush started this chapter buried in a grave... I'd hate to think what they did to Dom!
