Parallels between ToMI Chapter 5 and Sam & Max season 2
While I enjoyed Rise of the Pirate God immensely I couldn't help but notice that there were a number of ideas the game used that were also developed in Sam & Max: Season 2. Banang aside, we had:

Portals, like puzzles, seem to come in sets of 3!
