What action would you add to Guybrushes repertoire

Now we all know we 'control', well more like influence Guybrush's movement and action but there's also a long list of actions we cannot do, some for better, some for worse. If you could have the old Verb interface back, what custom Verb would you add?

A personal favorite of mine was from 'Simon the Sorcerer' and the 'Consume' verb, mostly because I was a child at the time, and didn't know what it meant, so would use it on most things. XD

I think "Dance" should also be added so you can make GT do his dance at any moment.

Gotta go with either "pollinate" or "frolic".

    Dance... With... Murray.
"I don't want to dance with that!"

    Dance... With... Winslow.

They added the guybrush!? *steals for avatar on another forum*

Anyway, i would like to see the verb "eat" added. Don't ask me why, because i don't even know.

How about something that just doesn't do *anything* throughout the entire game, such as "Keelhaul":

"I can't keelhaul that, I'm forty miles inland with no ship."

Eventually, the frustrated player will give up trying the "Keelhaul" verb on everything he comes across.... which is a mistake, because eventually there will be ONE incident where the whole game depends on somebody getting keelhauled....

How about "verb"? With that, just about any object on the screen should give you new opportunities... :D

(Yeah, I know - "verbing weirds language", but who cares? :p)

"Unlock with hook" should be a verb. That action was probably used more often than "Pick up" in SMI and MI2 together.

    EXACTLY!
You can look, but don't touch.
Not every pirate-item relationship has to be physical.
maybe the item doesn't want to be picked up! It's because of Teltale, and their new one verb only interface that so many items are kidnapped, and used with other items against their will.
    You're SICK Telltale! SICK!!!!

    also, i'd add insult.
I've always wanted to insult swordfight, or insult armwrestle with every character, but they only let you do it with random pirates, monkeys, and sea-captains

    Punch :D
Hehe, It would be fun too xD
    Bye!

Just the good old "eye - hand - mouth" - trio would be fine. It would increase the difficulty of puzzles since sometimes you have to guess the right action to do with an item, plus, the "hand" and "mouth" items might have different functions depending on the object e.g. mouth can be talk, eat or lick, the hand is for pick up, use and punch. *g*

The current simple "click to interact" option occasionally lead to frustration, especially with that seesaw puzzle. I wanted Guybrush to STAND on that thing, instead he'd always look at it (and, eventually, but not always) climb on it.

Put a boot next to the hand, so you can kick stuff. Must be good for a puzzle or two. Wasn't that featured in "Full Throttle", by the way?

The Larry games had a zipper icon. How about a bootstrap variety?

Actually, I like the option of different dialogue functions. Like the question/exclamation mark in "The Dig" and HtR, and the duck in Htr. Insults would be cool, they could be added as a kind of minigame. Not necessary for the main storyline, but perhaps it could unlock something, like a different outfit for Guybrush, and then after you completed the game you can start a "new game +" and have everyone in their bathing suits, or have it rain/snow everywhere.

You do realize they'd put Winslow in a thong, right? Didn't the Halloween contest teach us anything forum?

    Okay, disco outfits then :p

i realy miss the good old "pick up" lines^^

but what would be realy a nice add-in for future games are different clothings, like in Indiana Jone: tlC where you had to find a outfit and then use it to get through a passage of the game...

I agree with "Look" if I could only pick one. But I really do miss the Lucas Arts Hand-Eyes-Mouth trio. And maybe TTG could add a foot to make it a quartet.

    Jump over.

Think of some of the lines that Guybrush could say!

    Jump over... moon
    - "That's the cow's job."
Jump over... Crimpdigit - "I don't think he's in the mood for leapfrog."
Jump over... cliff - "Okay. Goodbye cruel adventure game... mmm, nah."
Jump over... edge of ship - "I really don't wanna go in the water.
I really don't wanna go in the water.
I really don't wanna go in the water.
I really don't wanna go in the water.
I really don't wanna go in the water.
I really don't wanna go in the water........
    .....Well if you insist..."

    Or Walk on.

Walk on... water - "Jesus Christ! That's the name, that's guy I was trying to think of."
Walk on... plank - "No. Mutiny hasn't taken place yet."
Walk on... Judge Grindstump - "I don't think he'd like that."

With verbs, I’d love an absurd one, like masticate yes :D
But there is an action interface I loved, it was Normality’s one.

I actually like the way the interface is right now in Telltale games. With the old verbs and the verb coin from Curse, it was annoying the number of times you'd hear "I can't do that" or "I don't wanna put my mouth on that" - because if you're obsessive like me you just had to try all three actions on everything to see if there was some funny line or not...

With the Telltale one click interface you get the most likely action you want to try and sometimes a second or third click gives a different result. I like it.

True, but a way to examine/comment should be available separately from the multi-purpose action click. Right now you can only comment or use inventory items, other items (not picked up, scenery) or characters can only be "interacted" with.

    Example (Assume Shift+Click = Examine)
Shift+Click on Elaine: "That's my plunder bunny"
Subsequents Shift+Clicks can trigger different comments or even small hints ("Elaine is tied up", "Wife doesn't look happy, I'd better untie her soon")
    Click on Elaine: Triggers dialog

Shift+Click on Rope: "A very long piece of rope", "That could be useful", "If I were in an adventure game, I'd pick that piece of rope"
Click on Rope: Attempts to Pick up Rope (Maybe it's part of a puzzle and you just can't pick it up now)/Picks up Rope

    Edit:
Anyway, adding odd-verbs is still fun
  • edited December 2009
That could be done with a left click/right click. Left click to use in a way or other (or interact with), right click to look at.
No need for verbs or anything, just the mouse can do that fine.
