Is this based on actual evidence or just conjecture? Because IMO, there's a lot pointing to an imminent (next 2 - 3 months) release of ToMI on XBLA. To wit:
- Both seasons of Sam & Max, all episodes of Wallace & Gromit, and the Secret of Monkey Island: SE (not Telltale, I know, but obviously relevant) are already available on XBLA and have sold relatively well (especially the latter).
- The control method of ToMI fits the 360 very well.
- Telltale CEO Dan Connors said back in August that porting ToMI to XBLA was "a huge priority."
- A lot of console fans were disenchanted with the poor presentation of ToMI on WiiWare. This would give it a less compromised console release.
My only question is will they release the series as individual episodes, ala W&G, or as whole seasons, ala S&M. I'll buy them either way. Obviously the latter is more economical and I think would most please gamers, but I do like all of the extra achievements that releasing the episodes individually allows. I do also wonder if Telltale has some sort of exclusivity contract with Nintendo where the games have to be exclusive to the Wii for a certain amount of time, but Connors' comments would seem to alleviate those concerns.
Looks like this thread needs to be combined with a few others.
My hope is that they put it on XBLA alongside the DVD release, and the full game is released in one (with a launcher or something). Not sure if that'd be possible though, I think there are size restrictions in place on XBLA
Well even if you do the 400x5 math then you would get 2000 MB which is not 2 GB. You're using the same rounding that computer and hard drive companies do to make the disks seem larger. It's 1.95 GB.
And selecting the installation folders I also get 1.32 GB. Two of the installers were less than 200 MB and none of the installers exceeded 300 MB, so even with great compression I'd still say that 400 MB would be a bit excessive for an estimate of the unextracted filesize...
The 40MB limit is for the compressed download file only. The actual game is bigger.
[/hundredth time]
Not THAT much bigger however as the Wii doesn't exactly have booming internal storage space which the game has to fit in. The Wii has a total Internal Memory space of 512MB. The Xbox 360 alone allows 2GB for a SINGLE Game/Program, I believe the PS3 allows more (up to 4GB? Or is that only the Install Limit of Games to the Hard Drive?).
Voice and texture compressions were the two main things i noticed. They also had a slightly different musical score.
By that, the Music was not pre-recorded like on the PC version, the Wii version has MIDI files with it's own Soundbank, which cuts down a lot of the size, but obviously does not sound as good.
Anyway, the internal storage memory of the Wii is indeed 512MB but you can use SDHC cards to go past 4GB (up to 32GB I believe) which you can store Wii channels on. I know that's a fact for sure.
But I think we can all agree that the Wii isn't the best console out there technically speaking. It's flawed in many ways.

Even though the memory can be expanded through SD Cards, regulations mean that programs/games STILL can not pass that 40MB limit and nothing can ever pass 512MB, if it can not fit on the Wii without the SD card, then it is not allowed.
I'm sure it'll come eventually, the Special Edition and Sam & Max games seem to have done really well on the 360. It'd be great if they could catch up though, I'd consider buying Season 2 on the 360 if it came at the same time and if the PC version retains the same control set up.
Telltale is always interested in porting their games to new consoles and through different mediums, though naturally right now our focus is on the DVD release of the game. Keep checking our blogs and newsletters for more info on the DVD and any other information to do with ToMI! When we have info, it shows up there first.

In order for the Wii to play anything from an SD card, it first must copy the file to the internal flash drive. The only exception to this rule is with Guitar hero 5 DLC.
So should I abandon hope that ToMI will come to XBLA (or PSN for that matter)? Part of me wants to believe they might release it alongside the special edition of Lechuck's Revenge, but with zero news about this for almost a year, I'm not optimistic. Still, seems like they're leaving money on the table.
Yeah, that's Games on Demand, which are pretty much just ISO's on Normal Disc based Games, The Xbox Live Arcade Limit is 2GB, please, do some research on this.
edit: To be more precise, the limit for an Xbox Live Arcade game is 2GB, The limit for a single download pack of DLC for a game is 2GB, Indie Games, I'm not sure but I believe the limit is smaller. Xbox Classics and Games on Demand retain the original file size of the games ISO.

WiiWare is a 40MB limit, XBLA is now 2GB, somehow, i think Telltale could manage it, considering Sam & Max are all in one launcher on XBLA too.
Oh, are they? I wasn't aware that the limit was 2GB - I think Tales would probably be a little over one gig. That's hopeful :P
How did you get that? all of my ToMI were 300mb (or more) so 300x5 = 1500 I think they were closer to 400, so 400X5 = 2000 (2gb)
granted it still fits in the XBL restrictions...

Actually, the installed game size limit is 40MB. With the exception of some minor shared system files, the games really are only 40MB. Seriously.
How do you manage to shrink the games down so much for the Wii versions?

I have only myself to blame, but it was a costly lesson. (1000 points)

I actually believe there's no such limits for Xbox or PS3 downloadable games anymore.
Actually, that's a game on demand distributed episodically. Now it's available in full.
That's under the Games on Demand section, you could at least check these things before calling me a liar!
