Chapter 3, manatee mating grounds without photo

I wasn't able to find the picture of Guybrush that Morgan threw to the ground, and I continued on without it. Now I'm here at the next part of the game without the picture, and the official guide(and every guide I have found thus-far) acts as though it is a given that you do! Am I to understand that I have to start all over, or is there another way to get the picture now that I'm out of the manatee?
