ToMI really a little easier that Sam and Max. That's why i don't use any solutions or forums.
ToMI is the BEST! (this my first game from TTG)

I didn't use any walkthroughs for the whole game, except for the end of Chapter 5.

It's not that hard, yet not too easy such that I just breeze through the entire game on my first run. Then again I'm pretty logically retarded sometimes, so take that as you will.

Didn't have any trouble during the
    shocking taste
, since I got that a few times while walking around randomly, so I knew what to do when that puzzle came up.

If you're a veteran of old adventure games, Tales will be too easy. I get the feeling that it's meant for a younger demographic though, so yeah.

What kind of carpet have you seen being washed entirely just to end up with extra static? I was SURE his "ouch" came from the door!

I think it did. At least I thought at the time, you're making me doubt.
I assumed that when he touched the metallic doornob, while standing on the carpet, it resulted in static electricity. But I agree it should be too wet for that. Not that the games are 100% scientifically accurate of course.

I thought I heard him say "ouch" before the door was opened, i.e. before he touched. But touching, saying "ouch", then the door opens made me confused about the whole thing.

    That's not true:
to really have a fair percentage of people who found it difficult you have to do:

[(total number of people who ask help / total number of people who bought the game)*100]

If even 100 people asked help but they sold 100,000 copies, it would be only 0.1% of people who found the game difficult.
But given that TT never gave the numbers of sold copies, we'll never know. :p

BTW I found the chapters 2, 3 & 5 easy too. Stemmle was a genious in chapter 1 & 4, he found the perfect difficulty to me.

Actually this isn't how statistical extrapolation works.
